Lily Collins is back starring as Emily Cooper in the brand new (and highly anticipated) series of "Emily In Paris" streaming on Netflix. The second season was released just before Christmas and provided another day of binge-watching the entire series to find out how Emily's work and love life develops in the French capital. Patricia Field was back as costume designer on the show along with Marylin Fitoussi and as Emily's outfits were a wow-statement last season, it has very much continued into season 2 with more cool elements of tailoring included in her wardrobe.
Throughout season 2, you will see that Emily has a vast array of coats in her wardrobe, including this shiny silver metallic number. With a classic collar around the neck and a four-button front, what enhances the shimmery style of the coat more is the embellishment and embroidery details on the top panel. The hem of the coat falls to the knee and is a common length seen throughout the other overcoats she wears in this series, including this lovely retro, vintage overcoat below. It's brown and yellow in colour, with a classic collar on the top too and wide angled welt pockets situated lower down.
Season 1 really showcased the houndstooth print across not just Emily's wardrobe, but a few of the other characters as well - and it continued in season 2. One houndstooth jacket spotted was this green, white and black piece that's slightly oversized with two large patch pockets near the bottom and fastened with two large buttons and notch lapels. The oversized style creates natural folds near the back when worn, emphasising the pattern more and making it a statement. Emily's progression in learning French continues in this season and here, she wears another green and white houndstooth blazer cut in a double-breasted form, flapped pockets and structured shoulders.
Emily's colourful wardrobe continued with a couple of yellow blazers too, specifically with this particular number worn in episode 5. Picking out the yellow in her top and skirt, it includes a single button fastening, flapped pockets and the hem finished with a subtle curve. The shoulders are soft with a welt pocket on the chest and notch lapels to complete the casual style and three black buttons exposed on each sleeve cuff. Black buttons also featured on another yellow blazer worn near the end of the season as Emily wears a lemon piece as part of a monochromatic ensemble. Details included a single button fastening on the front, one button on each cuff and thin jet pockets below the waist. With subtle padded shoulders, it elevates what is an elegant summery outfit for when she visits Camille's family home in the French countryside.
From sleeves to no sleeves, the blazer theme continued with this outfit consisting of a navy patterned top underneath a sleeveless ivory blazer. With notch lapels suiting the casual yet stylish vibe of the attire, the lapels end quite low down on the garment. Along with the single-button on the front for the fastening, the blazer also included a belt secured with buckles on the side, looking effective fastened or not. The length almost meets the bottom of the red check skirt and with slits up the size, makes for a sharp summer option and one she looks very sophisticated in too.
Emily Cooper's vibrant and modern wardrobe certainly continued through season 1 to season 2 as a way of showing her really flourish with her life in Paris - but she's not the only one to sport some chic and very sophisticated forms of tailoring in the latest season.
