Ladies' Fashion: Top 5 Trends for S/S 2021

As we are now officially into Spring, we at A Hand Tailored Suit having been looking into some of the key and expected trends that will take over the fashion world in Spring/Summer 2021. With working from home still being the norm for many and continues to be for a little while longer, loungewear and comfy knits will continue to be popular items to wear; but here is what you could be seeing more of when scrolling through social media and online.

It's All Yellow

With their announcement in December 2020 across social media and their website, yellow is set to be a huge colour this year and, given the current situation across the world, it only seems fitting that a colour which illuminates hope and happiness would be one to look out for this year. Take a look at Pantone's official article of 2021's colour of the year: Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Grey + Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating - https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-of-the-year-2021

Popular Pastels

We've noticed an increase in popularity for the pastel colours and it's sure set to be a big hit this year. Duck egg blue, ivory and lavender just to name a few shades are set to take over 2021 and be a common palette we see, particularly in weddings. The muted tones are relaxing and gorgeous, what else could you want? Plus, these colours always work extremely well in the world of bespoke tailoring: combining soft colours with sharp tailored lines and crisp finishes on a suit? Statement chic.

Monochrome Magic

As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and the classic monochrome attire never fails. It acts as the perfect canvas to show off any details on a garment, like a different colour pocket or the buttons on a suit. The example of a classic black suit is very versatile, and with black and white being two of the most easiest colours to style, all you need to do is wear with a yellow accessory and you are showcasing 2021 very well indeed: it's a timeless combination. Embrace the monochrome trend also with wearing different tones in the same outfit for a strong impact if this is your style: now is the perfect opportunity to work your monochrome magic.

Oversized Comfort

The trend for oversized clothing has become more popular over recent years, with the concept of sizing up on a blazer to either cinch in with a belt or wear for that relaxed feel has been a go-to for some. Yet, with more of us at home for a little while yet and turning to comfortable clothing, it's safe to say that has been understood as a necessary trend for 2021. Looser trousers and oversized shirts are key to creating that relaxed WFH look. Or if you prefer, choose an oversized blazer with defined shoulder pads (a double-breasted style always looks chic) to create a strong silhouette that at the same time, is effortless.

Soft Drapes

As always, the lighter weighted fabrics are a must as the weather gets warmer and for 2021, it appears it'll be very popular. Light cottons, linens and other sheer fabrics  are set to float by with impact this year. The element of drapes in garments is always gorgeous, and that soft element can sure be captured in a bespoke shirt with some delicate frills or ruffles down the front for a beautiful, elegant piece.
