The Day of the Jackal: The Jackal's Style

The Day of the Jackal hit our screens at the start of November, and this Thursday, the 12th of December, marks this series' tenth and final episode. In a cat-and-mouse chase across Europe that leaves death, destruction, and the tearing of family bonds in its wake, a highly trained killer and master of disguise

known only as the Jackal (Eddie Redmayne) is pursued by a British intelligence officer with outstanding firearms expertise (Lashana Lynch). The series has everything you would want and expect in a spy thriller. If you still need to see the first nine episodes, watch the trailer below before catching up on Sky Atlantic.

Redmayne's Jackal has a refined, sophisticated, and restrained style that whispers quite luxury, even when he's hunting his mark.

Every aspect of the character's outfits was painstakingly thought through. Even the Jackal's watches, including an OMEGA Seamaster Railmaster and two other OMEGA timepieces, fit his discreet, low-profile, yet timeless and sophisticated style.

The Jackal has a meticulous approach to everything in his life, not just his work, and throughout the episodes, this is reflected in his wardrobe. We see him in looks, including casual but expensive baseball caps, wool pea coats, or bespoke tailored suits whose fit and attention to detail mirror the same painstaking thought and effort that he applies to his work. The Jackal is a master of disguise. He opts for a dark and muted colour palette when he needs to blend in. In contrast, when he's relaxing at home with his family, we see him in lighter, brighter colours and fabrics that fit the warm Spanish weather and try to project the lighter, more colourful, family-man side of his personality.

At A Hand Tailored Suit, we think one of Jackal's stand-out looks from the series is when he is practising his shots in a field in Budapest. This outfit of a practical and cool linen shirt, functional but stylish brown leather boots, and comfortable chinos show not only that he can dress for different situations but also that the slightly incongruous and impractical (as the colour makes him visible, unlike the rest of the outfit!) splash of bright red in his neckerchief gives a nod to his true sartorial personality.

Which Of The Jackal's Many Outfits Did You Like?

Have you watched the series yet, or will you be catching up before the big finale? Do you like the chameleon-like quality of the Jackal's wardrobe? He has ensembles for any occasion and activity. Would you wear any of the pieces?
