The Graham Norton Show 8 November 2019 - A Hand Tailored Suit

The Graham Norton Show 8 November 2019

For Series 26, Episode 7 Graham welcomed the upcoming Netflix drama The Crown’s new stars, Oscar winner Olivia Colman and Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter, discussing their roles as the Queen and Princess Margaret. Chadwick Boseman, star of the Black Panther film and new action/police crime thriller 21 Bridges also joined the ladies on the red sofa along with comedian and IT Crowd actor Richard Ayoade. Finally, Lady Anne Glenconner joined the sofa discussing her memoir about her life and friendship with Princess Margaret. Let’s take a gander at the outfits of the night.

Graham Norton

Graham wore a smart pinstripe suit with fabric-detailed notched lapels. He wore a mid-blue button-up and burgundy tie as well as a poppy pin on his lapel.

Olivia Colman

Olivia Colman wore smart black trousers with a stripe detail down the leg with stiletto sandal heels paired with a black chiffon and silk top and a poppy pin. Oliva discussed how she didn’t quite remember the Oscars and how most actors hang out at the bar whilst hundreds of stand-ins sit at tables in the audience until their on-camera moments.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter wore a chiffon and silk button-up dress with chunky platform heels and her signature messy updo, embellished with jewels in her hair. Helena discussed talking to a medium to get Princess Margaret’s blessing of sorts for the role.

In this clip, Olivia discusses how she walks like a farmer and Helena talks about how she goes to great lengths to research roles.

Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman wore a jacket reminiscent of Micahel Jackson, a sort of leather studded and jewelled blazer in black. He wore black trousers and an embroidered white and black shirt and black leather shoes. On the show, he discussed his new film and how the producers of the film got the number of bridges out of Manhattan incorrect and had to rename the title.

Richard Ayoade

Richard Ayoade wore smart black trousers, black leather shoes, and a red and white polka dot button-up shirt. He discussed his new book, Ayoade On Top, which includes snippets from his life alongside an analysis of Gweneth Paltrow’s oft-forgotten film, View From the Top.

Richard discusses how the writer who wrote it, Graham, chose him for the role of the IT Crowd because he wrote the part with Richard in mind. Graham also shows a Halloween costume of a little girl dressed up as the character.

Richard discusses how the film that he discussed in his book has a plot that is similar to ‘all films.’

Lady Anne Glenconner

Lady Anne Glenconner joined the softa to discuss her book, Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown. She wore a rich velvet patterned blazer and a pencil skirt and had perfectly coifed hair. She told stories of her mother’s sex advice, her unusual honeymoon in Paris, Princess Margaret, and two of her sons’ untimely deaths.
