Female - Measurement Guide

1). Height Measurement

Place your exact height head to toe in the measurement box above.

 

 


2). Chest Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the widest part of the upper torso. Leaving approx. one finger in-between the tape measure. Then record your measurement.

 

 


3). Upper Waist Measurement

Place the tape measure level with the widest point of your lower torso. Leaving approx. one finger in-between the tape measure & record the measurement.

 

 


4). Seat Measurement

Place the tape measure level around the circumference of your posterior & record the measurement.

 

 


5). Jacket Shoulder Width Measurement

Place the tape measure on the crown of the shoulder and measure from the left to right recording an approx. measurement.

This measurement should never be larger than the back width. This can be checked by measuring from armhole to armhole.

 

 

 


6). Jacket Back Length

Place the tape measure at the back of the neck measuring down level to the desired Jacket back length.

Side note its normal for a back length to be approx. 0.50" / 1.27cm shorter than the front length.

7). Jacket Front Length  

Place the tape measure on the collar bone letting the tape fall over the front torso recording the desired length.

Side note its normal for a front length to be approx. 0.50" / 1.27cm longer than the back length.

Additional note the perfect length of a sports Jacket is ideally measured inline with the crotch line (The inverted v) which normally marks the widest point of the hips.

8). Garment First Button Height  

Place the tape measure on the collar bone letting the tape fall over the front torso recording the top / first button required height

For reference the top button is the first button from the top out of the two shown in the second image.

9/10). Garment Crown To Cuff (etc. Jacket)

Place the tape measure on the crown of the shoulder measuring to the desired sleeve length.

For the perfect shirt sleeve length add an extra 0.75" /1.9cm to the Jacket sleeve length recorded. It is correct to show a little cuff.

11). Waistcoat Front Length

Place the tape measure on the top of the shoulder measuring to the required position at the base / hem of the waistcoat.

Approx. 2" /5cm below the trouser waistband.

12). Waistcoat Back Length

Place the tape measure at the back of the neck measuring down to the base / the bottom of your trouser waistband.

13). Waistcoat Front Length

Place the tape measure at the top of the shoulder as before measuring down to the last button height. The last button on waistcoat normally should be positioned half way down the trouser waistband.

Side note do make sure the trousers are sitting at the correct height required before measuring.

14). Waistcoat Opening Front

Place the tape measure at the top of the shoulder measuring down to the desired position of your first button.

The first button for reference is the top button in the image.

15). Waistcoat Shoulder Width

Place the tape measure at the crown of the shoulder measuring to the edge of the collar bone.

For reference the standard waistcoat shoulder width for ladies is approx. 2.75" to 3.25"/ 7cm - 8.3cm.

 

 

 


16). Trouser Waist Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of your trouser waist recording an exact measurement.

Make sure to place the trousers first at a correct comfortable height then take the measurement from inside the trouser waistband.

 

 


17). Trouser Seat Measurement

Place the tape measure level around the circumference of your posterior & record the measurement.

 

 


18). Trouser Full Crotch Measurement

Taking a full crotch measurement, you will need to place the tape measure level with the top of your waistband at the front of your trousers & then feed it in-between your legs taking the tape measure directly to the top of your trouser waistband at the back of your trouser. The tape should not be tight but approx. 0.50"/1.27cm loose. Record an exact measurement.

 

 


19). Trouser Front Crotch Measurement

Place the tape measure level with the top of the trouser waistband and measure to the base of the seat. This will give a front crotch measurement.

 

 


20). Trouser outside Leg Measurement

Place the tape measure level with the top of the trouser waistband letting the tape measure fall to the floor and recording your desired outside trouser leg length.

We would recommend wearing shoes for this measurement. So you can gauge your desired trouser hem break.


21). Trouser inside Leg Measurement

Either place the tape measure in-between the legs and record the inside leg length requirement or deduct 10"/ 25cm from the outside leg measurement to give an accurate measurement.  

 

 


22). Trouser Thigh Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of your thigh recording an exact measurement.

 

 


23). Trouser Knee Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the knee cap, recording an exact measurement.

You should bend the knee slightly while taking this measurement.

 

 


24). Trouser Calf Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the Calf recording an exact measurement.

 

 


25). Trouser Hem Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the ankle recording the required hem width measurement.

We recommend wearing shoes while recording this measurement.

 

 


26). Collar Size Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the neck leaving approx. one fingers width of space inside the tape measure. Then record an exact measurement.

 

 


27). Bicep Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the bicep taking an exact measurement.

The bicep should not be flexed at this time or this will result in an increased measurement within the arm hole, bicep & cloth measurement.

 

 


28 & 29). Shirt Sleeve Length

Place the tape measure on the crown of the shoulder measuring to the desired shirt sleeve length.

Side note, remember to check that your shirt sleeve length is longer than your Jacket sleeve length if desired.

 

 

 


30 & 31). Shirt Cuff Width

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the wrist leaving enough room for a watch if worn. Then record the measurement.

 

 


32). Shoe Size

Please receord your shoe size in the above


33). Ladies Arm to Arm Measurement

Place the tape measure over the top of the bust measuring from left to right capturing an exact measurement.

 

This measurement will capture the shaping of the jacket bust.

 

 


34). Ladies Point To Point Position

Place the tape measure over the top of the bust measuring from left to right.

This measurement will capture the shaping of the jacket bust.

 


35). Ladies Nape To Natural Waist Measurement.

Place the tape measure at the top of neck allowing the tape to fall straight down the back stopping at the bottom of the curve of the back.

 

 


36). Ladies Shoulder Seam To Bust Point Measurement

Place the tape measure at the top of the shoulder & measure to the height of the bust taking an exact measure.

 

 


37). Ladies Natural Waist Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the narrowest point of the torso recording an exact measure.

This point is called the natural waist.  

 

 


38). Ladies Under Bust Measurement

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the torso directly under under the bust position. The tape measure should touch the base of the bra.

This measurement will capture the shaping of the jacket bust.

 

 


39). Ladies Skirt Waist        

Place the tape measure around the circumference of the area that you would like to wear the skirt recording th

 

 


40). Ladies Skirt Length  

Place the tape measure level with the top of the skirt trouser waistband letting the tape measure fall to the floor and recording your desired skirt length.

We would recommend wearing shoes for this measurement. So you can gauge your desired trouser hem break.


41). Shirt Shoulder Width Measurement

Place the tape measure on the crown of the shoulder and measure from the left to right recording an approx. measurement.  

For note the shirt shoulder width is normally around 0.50" /1.27cm smaller than the recorded Jacket shoulder width.

 

 


42). Overcoat Front Length Measurement

Place the tape measure at the shoulder seam and let the tape measure fall across the front chest, recording the desired front length of your overcoat.

Remember the Jacket front length will normally be 0.50"/1.27cm longer at the front than than the back.

43). Overcoat Back Length Measurement

For both of these measurements we recommend wearing a Jacket if possible.

The back length measurement should be taken by placing the tape measure at the back of the neck and letting the tape measure fall down the back straight recording your desired overcoat length.

Side note, the most common overcoat length is three quarters in length recording the measurement down to the back of the knee. Alternatively it could be a pea coat which is normally around the height of the widest point of thigh.

Additional note, do please remember to measure longer than your Jacket being worn underneath.
