We've already covered a few of the standout runways from Paris Menswear Fashion Week on our blog (if you've missed our previous post, click here!) but there were loads of inspiring pieces that took to the runway for the final three days of the event.
Dior Homme
RTW Runway
It was a collection that combined the outdoor attire with smart, indoor tailoring to create a unique interpretation on the Spring/Summer 2023 fashion season. The colour palette was filled of soft, dusky colours that were paired with muted and neutral shades which created a well-balanced attire. The setting of the runway also aided with the elegance of the collection's colour palette, and they weren't overshadowed either by the structure of the tailoring. The jackets themselves all differed in cut as the first look above shows a double-breasted style with the lapels folded up, whilst the blush pink includes a belt detail and pockets designed with thin white panels and stripes throughout for a sporty feel.
A design that was common throughout the collection was this asymmetric panelling to enhance one colour by combining multiple hues of it which, when included in the neat tailoring, makes for a signature look. The first look above is mostly light grey with darker shades used to enhance the padded shoulders and the welt pocket on the chest of the coat (a shorter blazer look is included in the third look) as well as darker shade of grey creating a tall hem at the bottom. The second look showcases a darker felt undercollar that's almost similar in colour to the turn-up trousers, with an additional diagonal panel falling from right to left down across the chest where the lapel would fold back to.
Ungaro
Presentation
The presentation from Ungaro fashion displayed an eclectic wardrobe of tailored pieces, both formal and casual, that could be inspiring for Spring/Summer 2023. With how varied the looks were, from plain navy single-breasted suits worn with a delicate printed shirt to an olive green zipped jacket with bright pink facing, it was almost a collection that showed 'what to wear in a week' wardrobe. The textures and prints varied too and were used as a statement piece within an ensemble, a perfect example being the model wearing a sky blue one-button jacket with a navy blue tee underneath and a pair of mid-blue denim jeans. The pink and burgundy printed shirt worn in the look next to this was also great, as the white/grey trousers echoed the same colour in the print, allowing both items to be distinguished as much as the other.
Refined detailing is always important in tailoring, and the Ungaro collection certainly didn't shy away from exhibiting its finishes on the garments. The detail and texture of the black and white plaid check on the jacket looks pristine and even more so when styled with the geometric orange and red printed shirt underneath. The seams of the trousers are lovely and flat, allowing the crispness of the hems to show even more and create a sharp centre front line. Buttons on the cuffs can be easily missed, yet the mint green and pink cuffs with ivory buttons are matching the threads to the embroidered buttonholes to mirror the soft colours that come through in the Spring/Summer season.
KENZO
RTW Runway
The KENZO collection brought nautical-inspired tailoring and sailor-themed attire to the final day of Paris Menswear Fashion Week, whilst also delivering a variety of colours and tailored cuts on the runway. Along with many stripy cloths used for the construction, checks were very much a running detail as the first look portrays, with the model wearing a coral and blue plaid check jacket with an accompanying navy and burgundy striped tie. From deep colour hues to ones that are lighter and more pastel-based, the second look displayed a striped jacket with a high-button fastening and the stripes going in alternative directions. The classic sailor stripe neck collar inspired the choice of lapel/neckline decoration on the third grey check jacket look, whilst the final two were quite groovy in appearance and in the wavy stripes if the cloths to really juxtapose the sharp tailored lines.
This particular suiting ensemble was a cool look to feature in the collection thanks to the use of matching Prince of Wales check fishtail braces attached to the waistband. This could spark the popularity for this tailored accessory once more, styled over a printed white shirt with a white tie that pattern matches the centre of the floral artwork. Hints of blue are included in the check design, as a smaller version is used for the trousers which doesn't overload the look completely. The shawl collar and matching velvet cuffs are a great way to merge all the textures together. Again, the focus on details came through in this show, as did the use of pinstripe with a metallic finish in the silver lines, or the use of pinstripe in a more casual, denim attire.
