The Styles of Guy Ritchie's Operation Fortune - A Hand Tailored Suit

The Styles of Guy Ritchie's Operation Fortune

After a series of unfortunate delays, Guy Ritchie's new film Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is finally scheduled for release on Amazon Prime Video on April 7, 2023. Written and directed by Ritchie, the film stars a host of famous faces, including Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone and Hugh Grant. The action comedy is about spy Orson Fortune, who must retrieve a stolen high-tech device before an arms dealer can sell it to the highest bidder. Watch the trailer below.

As with all of Ritchie's films, the cast of characters possesses impeccable style. Costume designer Tina Kavalis constructed the outfits for each of the roles. Let's take a look at some of the characters and their attire.

Jason Statham as Orson Fortune

Jason Statham stars as Orson Fortune, a private contractor spy who loves drinking expensive wine and breaking bones, not necessarily in that order. The British government hires him to retrieve a high-tech device that can cause global chaos before billionaire arms dealer Greg Simmonds can sell it on the black market. His penchant for expensive things doesn't just extend to wine, so his clothes are always on point when he's not dressed as a cat burglar.

The Blue Suit

Fortune pairs a gorgeous blue suit with a buttoned-up polo shirt in a matching hue for a relaxed but still super smart look. The jacket features natural shoulders, notch lapels, flap pockets, a three-button closure, and rounded cuffs. A ticket pocket sits above the right-hand front pocket for that added interest and detail.

The Tan Suit

Orson Fortune favours the polo shirt/suit combination for his everyday wear. This exquisite tan suit is again paired with a blue polo shirt for a relaxed but smart feel. Once more, the jacket has notch lapels, natural shoulders, a three-button closure, flap pockets, and a ticket pocket for extra pizzazz. The front panels also sport darts above the pockets for a closer and more flattering fit to the body.

The Classic Tuxedo

Fortune opts for a classic black tuxedo with the traditional one-button closure and satin shawl lapels for the film's formal occasions. He combines it with a white dress shirt and black bow tie.

Josh Hartnett as Danny Francesco

Josh Hartnett stars as Danny Francesco, a movie star who Orson Fortune blackmails into helping him get close to Greg Simmonds, the arms dealer and Francesco superfan. As a rich movie star, Francesco's outfits are polished and well put together.

The Pink Suit

Francesco looks super slick and dapper in this raspberry pink suit with its slim fit, notch lapels, and double vent back. The jacket also has darts for a more sculpted fit. He pairs it with a busily patterned blue shirt left unbuttoned to show off his chest and cheeky superstar personality.

The Cream Formal Jacket

Being an attention-seeking celebrity, Francesco chooses a cream tuxedo jacket to stand out from the crowd on the film's formal occasion. The jacket has deep scooped shawl lapels finishing just above the one-button closure. It also features classic straight jetted pockets. The star combines it with looser-fitting black trousers, a pleated front white dinner shirt, a black bow tie, and a black pocket square to tie it all together.

Hugh Grant as Greg Simmonds

Hugh Grant stars as Greg Simmonds, the billionaire and Danny Francesco superfan who Orson Fortune is tasked with stopping from selling a doomsday device on the black market. Being a billionaire means that Simmond's looks are consistently sharp and stylish.

The Blue Tuxedo

Greg Simmonds stands front and centre of the film's promotional posters. The blue velvet tuxedo jacket with its contrasting black satin shawl lapels and flap pockets gives us a taste of the billionaire character's sartorial style. The jacket is paired with a white dress shirt and a black bow tie, and with Simmonds holding a cigar and glass of whisky, this outfit shouts wealthy gentleman.

Of course, the other characters in the film have their unique style. As the tech genius computer hacker, Aubrey Plaza is stylishly simple or full glam. Look at her outfits below.

Bugzy Malone plays the sharp-dressing sharpshooter.

And last but not least is Cary Elwes as Nathan Jasmine, the spy team's mission coordinator (or boss). His outfits look smart and stylish yet somehow very British spy!
