Our #AHandTailoredSuit groom Alejandro travelled to our studio from London for his first fitting of his special wedding suit during the end of June this year, all ready to see how he would look on the special wedding day! He and his partner are set to be married in August with the wedding taking place in the gorgeous scenery of Italy. Before we delve into the details of his wedding suit, we would like to wish Alejandro many congratulations from the tailoring team!
Alejandro's wedding suit of choice was a three-piece ensemble with a custom shirt and tie. Focusing on the jacket first, the style was inspired by the dinner jacket silhouette with a shawl collar and one-button front for a sleek finish. The double jets of the flapped pockets were cut from a contrasting dark green cloth to create a sharp detail indeed, paired with a pattern-matched welt pocket on the chest which sits on a slight angle. The buttoned cuffs were arranged with three buttons, whilst the jacket was lined in a lovely white satin with a subtle purple tint to it. The main body of the jacket was cut from a forest green check cloth with hints of lilac, navy blue and dark purple woven throughout, which we ensured to cleverly pick out through the rest of the suit.
The waistcoat was a double-breasted cut with six buttons on the front, the buttons themselves a green horn style that are also seen inside the jacket. The neckline was a lovely smooth curved line with narrow shawl lapels, contrasted by the sharp notched hem at the bottom. Two thin double jet pockets were also included on the waistcoat front, whilst the buttonholes were embroidered in the matching green shade to the waistcoat and lined in the same colour satin as the jacket.
The cut of the trousers were tapered to the ankle with a subtle centre crease down the front to enhance the sharpness of the shape and the cut itself. The tapered ankle works perfectly with his tan loafers which really captures the modern style of his wedding suit. Whilst his trouser waistband including a metal hook fastening, belts loops and waistband belt adjusters, thin double jet pockets were placed on the back with pockets down the sides also. His custom white shirt would be styled tucked into the waistband, with this itself designed with clear buttons that were sewn on with green thread, a subtle yet effective way of showing off the green further. Double cuffs were the style of choice on the sleeves, whilst the classic collar would hold the two-tone purple custom tie in place.
The check cloth features two different shades of purple which have been complemented through the lining and tie; yet Alejandro's suit was also designed with the same two-tone satin edging inside for another lovely detail, pairing the tie with a matching pocket square to bring this suit together. The belt adjuster on the back of the waistcoat would be a smooth contrasting detail, cut from the green check cloth to add a little statement to the garment. For the finishing touch to make this suit a long-lasting memory from his Italian wedding, Alejandro had two very special dates embroidered under the jacket collar in Italian: marking their first kiss as a couple, and what will be their first kiss when married. It's these little touches when making a bespoke suit that really make all the difference and make it such an important piece for weddings!
