The British Fashion Awards were held this week on the 4th of December at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The annual event is a fundraiser for the British Fashion Council, which supports the growth and success of the British fashion industry by encouraging education, giving grants, and mentoring businesses. This year's winners included Vogue's Edward Enninful, who was awarded the Trailblazer Award. Charlotte Tilbury was honoured with a Special Recognition Award, Valentino Garavani received the Outstanding Achievement Award, Paloma Elsesser was given Model of the Year, and Jonathan Anderson won Designer of the Year for JW Anderson and Loewe.
Of course, plenty of celebrities attended to strut their stuff and show off their impeccable taste in fashion on the red carpet. Watch the video to see a few arrivals, and then let's take a look at some of the standouts from the evening.
Nicole Scherzinger
Ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole rocked up to the event in a mint green ballgown covered in a layer of black mesh. The dress's corseted bodice featured asymmetrical strap detailing across her chest, and the top contrasted with the voluminous skirt to exaggerate her small waist. She finished the outfit with a crystal-encrusted black mesh handbag.
Lily James
Actress Lily James, known for the live-action remake of Cinderella, donned a Miu Miu in navy blue radzmire embroidered with black crystals. The floor-length halterneck gown had a thigh-high slit, over-the-top bow, cut-out detailing, and a diamond brooch belt.
Amal Clooney
Amal, a barrister and wife of George Clooney, looked stunning in an Atelier Versace dress covered in sparkling paillettes. The gold and bronze spangles gradually increased in size from her neck to the hem, creating a dazzling fire-like ombre effect. To allow the dress to stand out, she accessorised simply with a small clutch bag.
Jodie Comer
British Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer kept it simpler on the red carpet in a classically tailored, sleeveless black Jimmy Choo blazer dress. The look was uncomplicated but elegant, with flap pockets, peak lapels, and a covered button placket. She gave some glitz to the ensemble, donning a diamond necklace, earrings, and a hair clip by Boucheron.
Gwendoline Christie
Game of Thrones and Wednesday actress Gwendoline Christie wowed in a sculptural deep chocolate brown custom Giles Deacon gown. The bodice's cups evoked Disney villains Ursula or Dark Fey. She only wore jewellery on her hands to not detract from the dress's unique neckline and styled her light blonde hair in a similarly sweeping, sculptural do that echoed and emphasised it.
