Carolyne & Glen’s Elegant Wedding at Leicester Guild Hall

Carolyne & Glen’s Elegant Wedding at Leicester Guild Hall

A Bespoke Wedding Suit by A Hand Tailored Suit, Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

Saturday 23rd May 2026 was a very special day for Carolyne and Glen, as they celebrated their wedding surrounded by more than 100 guests at the magnificent Leicester Guild Hall.

With its historic character and traditional architecture dating back to the 1300s, Leicester Guild Hall provided a truly memorable setting for a wedding filled with timeless elegance, personality and style.

For Glen, the occasion called for something equally special — a completely bespoke wedding outfit, individually designed and made by A Hand Tailored Suit, based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

A Bespoke Three-Piece Suit Designed Especially for Glen

Glen's main wedding outfit was a beautifully tailored three-piece suit and bespoke shirt, created around his individual measurements and personal style.

The suit was made from a distinctive blue sharkskin cloth, used throughout the jacket, waistcoat and trousers. The subtle texture of the sharkskin fabric gave the suit a sophisticated appearance while allowing the blue tone to work beautifully within the historic surroundings of Leicester Guild Hall.

The jacket featured a hand-stitched peaked lapel, 3.5 inches wide, giving Glen's wedding suit a confident and refined silhouette.

Additional bespoke details included:

  • Peaked hand-stitched lapels
  • Burgundy buttons
  • Slanted flap pockets
  • Double vents
  • Four-button cuffs
  • Framed interior construction
  • Aqua blue contrast detailing
  • Aqua blue breast pocket lining
  • Real buttonholes
  • Bespoke embroidery inside the jacket pocket
  • Personalised details created especially for Glen

One of the most personal touches was the embroidery inside the jacket pocket, commemorating the wedding date of 23rd May 2026.

These hidden details are part of what makes a bespoke suit so meaningful. They may not always be visible to the guests, but they create a permanent personal connection between the garment and the occasion.

A Teal and Burgundy Interior

The inside of Glen's jacket was designed to be just as individual as the outside.

A teal and red paisley lining created a striking contrast against the blue sharkskin cloth, while aqua blue detailing and burgundy buttons added further character.

At A Hand Tailored Suit, customers can choose many of the details that make their garment completely personal, from the fabric and lapel design through to the lining, buttons, stitching and embroidery.

For a wedding suit, these details can transform a traditional three-piece suit into something that tells the groom's own story.

The Bespoke Waistcoat

Glen's waistcoat was created from the same blue sharkskin fabric as the jacket and trousers, maintaining a seamless three-piece look.

The waistcoat featured a V-neck design with a hand-stitched lapel, two pockets and a breast pocket, together with an adjustable back for a comfortable and precise fit.

The combination of the waistcoat, peaked-lapel jacket and matching trousers created a classic wedding silhouette that suited the traditional surroundings of Leicester Guild Hall perfectly.

Bespoke Trousers for a Complete Three-Piece Look

The matching trousers were also individually made for Glen.

They featured cross pockets, belt loops and adjusters, with a plain hem and no pleats. Brace buttons were also incorporated into the design.

Every element was considered as part of the complete outfit, ensuring that the jacket, waistcoat, trousers and shirt worked together rather than simply being individual pieces.

Glen’s Bespoke Sky Blue Shirt

To complete the wedding outfit, Glen chose a sky blue bespoke shirt.

The shirt featured a semi-cutaway/spread collar, balanced front, two knife pleats at the back and straight double cuffs.

Matching buttons completed the clean and sophisticated appearance.

The sky blue shirt worked particularly well with the blue sharkskin suit, adding another layer of colour without taking attention away from the main three-piece suit.

Glen’s Tie – A Personal Finishing Touch

Glen also brought his own tie, adding another personal element to the wedding outfit.

This is one of the advantages of having a bespoke suit made specifically around the wearer. The suit can be designed to complement existing accessories, family pieces or items that have special meaning.

A Second Bespoke Outfit for the Cruise

The celebrations didn't stop with the wedding day.

Glen also commissioned a second bespoke three-piece outfit for his cruise, demonstrating how bespoke tailoring can create completely different looks for different occasions.

This second outfit was created using Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) mohair, giving the garment a luxurious and elegant finish.

The jacket featured a sophisticated shawl lapel with a contrasting jacquard shawl, measuring 2.75 inches wide.

It also included:

  • Straight flap pockets with jacquard contrast jetting
  • Covered jacquard buttons
  • Double vents
  • Framed lining
  • Three-button cuffs
  • Breast pocket
  • Flash cuff detailing
  • Burgundy paisley lining

The matching double-breasted waistcoat featured a 3x3 configuration, horseshoe/scoop styling and a contrasting jacquard shawl lapel.

The trousers were again individually tailored with cross pockets, belt loops and adjusters, plain hems and brace buttons.

A Bespoke Evening Shirt

The second outfit was completed with another specially designed bespoke shirt.

This time Glen chose a cutaway collar, studded front and contrast bib detailing, together with curved double cuffs and matching buttons.

Colour dress studs provided the finishing touch.

For the cruise, Glen also selected a black clip-on bow tie, giving the outfit a classic eveningwear feel.

Inside the jacket, another special detail was included: embroidery reading:

Fast-Track Bespoke Tailoring

Glen's wedding suit was also completed as a fast-track bespoke order, with an exceptionally short turnaround.

The main wedding order was completed within approximately 14 days, demonstrating the flexibility and experience available through A Hand Tailored Suit for customers working to a tight deadline.

While bespoke tailoring normally requires careful planning and sufficient time for fittings and production, the Birmingham team can sometimes accommodate fast-track requirements depending on fabric availability, design and production schedules.

A Historic Wedding Venue Meets Modern Bespoke Tailoring

The setting of Leicester Guild Hall created a wonderful contrast with Glen's contemporary bespoke tailoring.

The building's historic atmosphere and traditional surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for a modern blue sharkskin three-piece suit, while the carefully chosen paisley lining, aqua detailing and burgundy accents ensured the outfit remained personal to Glen.

It was a combination of traditional surroundings, modern tailoring and personal style.

For Carolyne and Glen, their wedding wasn't simply about choosing a suit from a shop. Glen's outfit was designed around him, from the fit and silhouette to the fabrics, colours, buttons, lining and personalised embroidery.
