The MTV Video Music Awards took place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Winners on the night included Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, and Rosé. Award ceremonies always bring out celebrities dressed to the nines in their sartorial best. Let's take a look at some of the outfits that caught our eye.
Sabrina Carpenter
"Espresso" singer and winner of Best Album, Sabrina Carpenter, encapsulated Old Hollywood in a bejewelled scarlet lace Valentino gown with a nude bodysuit underneath the sheer dress. She accessorised with a lavender stole and styled her blonde hair in her signature curls.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga, who won Artist of the Year, appeared to still be channelling her character from season two of Wednesday in a Victorian Gothic-style dress featuring many black flounces, frills and lace, oversized pouffy sleeves, and blood-red accents.
Ariana Grande
Singer and Wicked star Ariana Grande accepted the Video of the Year award. She walked the red carpet in a custom strapless polka dot Fendi dress with an inverse coloured peplum at her waist. She styled her hair in her famous slicked-back, high ponytail and embellished the outfit with Swarovski jewellery.
Doja Cat
Doja Cat, known for her outrageous fashion choices and costumes, kept her look quite pared back (for her!) at the award ceremony, opting for a yellow and blue diamond-patterned mini dress by Balmain, decorated with fuchsia and silver spangles along the front closure, plunging v-neckline, and tops of the sleeves. She wore her hair in a 1990s Dolly Parton-style do and finished the look with six-inch yellow platforms, oversized pink earrings, and a bedazzled clutch in the shape of a lipstick.
Rosé
Blackpink star Rosé won Song of the Year for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, "APT." She arrived on the red carpet in a strapless gold sequinned column dress by Oscar de la Renta. The long gown was fringed from the mid-thigh. She kept her jewellery simple, donning dainty diamond drop earrings and a complementary bracelet.
