Crafting a Bespoke Vision: Avery’s Custom Wedding Journey with A Hand Tailored Suit

Crafting a Bespoke Vision: Avery’s Custom Wedding Journey with A Hand Tailored Suit

When planning a wedding, every detail matters—especially the attire. For Avery Cunningham, creating a one-of-a-kind look for an August 8th, 2026 wedding meant embarking on a detailed bespoke journey with A Hand Tailored Suit in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter (95 Spencer Street).

Here is a closer look at the timeline, the striking design details, and the exceptional craftsmanship behind this custom creation.

The Planning & Fitting Timeline

The journey began well ahead of the big day, allowing ample time for fabric selection, precise measurements, and flawless tailoring:

  • September 16, 2025: Initial 60–90 minute style consultation at the Birmingham City Center showroom.

  • November 2025 – February 2026: Design finalization, fabric sourcing, and flexible installment plan complete by February 28th.

  • May 1, 2026: First official fitting to assess structural drape and initial silhouette.

  • July 2, 2026: Second detailed fitting to refine lines and ensure a perfect fit.

  • Early August 2026: Final fitting and pickup, ready for the main event.

The Venue & Design Vision

Set against the historic backdrop of Black-friars Priory in Gloucester for a 1:00 PM ceremony, the design required a balance of classic elegance and personal storytelling. Avery and the bride, Jade, kept their wedding outfits a complete surprise from one another until the big day.

To complement the light, summer sun theme while honoring the historic priory setting, the tailoring focused on rich textures and distinct contrast:

  • The Three-Piece Suit: Crafted from a textured green and dark floral fabric. The jacket features a single-button front (SB1), elegant 3" peak lapels, straight flapped pockets, a double back vent, and custom black-and-green buttons with a flash cuff detail.

  • The Waistcoat: Designed with a striking 3x3 double-breasted front, a smooth 2" shawl lapel, a notched base, and a matching full-fabric back with side adjusters.

  • The Trousers: A deep dark contrasting tone featuring a side stripe, cross pockets, belt loops paired with side adjusters, brace buttons, and a clean, flat-front finish. Paired with polished black shoes.

  • The Custom Shirt: Crisp white fabric (AS101-W01) featuring a semi-cutaway collar, balanced front, and knife pleats across the back for breathable, comfortable movement.

The Signature Detail: Digital Stained Glass Lining

The standout feature of Avery’s jacket is its completely custom, digitally printed lining. Designed as a framed lining with contrast piping, the artwork directly mirrors the vibrant stained-glass windows of the venue—capturing rich shades of yellow, blue, red, and purple framed within the dark, structured green exterior.

Capturing the Moments

A truly bespoke garment deserves to be captured in its best light. The incredible imagery for this look was photographed on location at Hartlebury Castle, captured brilliantly by Roseandrainbowphotography. The historic stone and natural light brought out every intricate texture of the dark floral weave and the vivid tones of the custom stained-glass lining.

From a initial sketch in Birmingham to a dramatic reveal in Gloucester, this tailored creation stands as a perfect mix of personal story, high craftsmanship, and timeless style.
