Critics' Choice Awards 2024: Women's Style - A Hand Tailored Suit

Critics' Choice Awards 2024: Women's Style

The 29th Critics' Choice Awards were held on January 14th at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Comedian Chelsea Handler hosted the ceremony for the second year. Among the winners were Oppenheimer with eight trophies, Barbie with six gongs, Emma Stone for Best Actress in Poor Things, Paul Giamatti for Best Actor in The Holdovers, and Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Actor. Various sartorial trends, from colourful suits to red gowns, rosettes, jumpsuits, and trailing trains, stood out. Let's take a look at some of the most eye-catching looks from the evening.

Margot Robbie

Barbie actress Margot Robbie wore custom Balmain in a vibrant scarlet. The strapless mermaid dress was decorated along the neckline with beautiful 3D roses. She accessorised with cabochon gems in her ears and a matching ring.

Ayo Edebiri

Actress Ayo Edebiri, who picked up an award for the television series The Bear, chose a simple, casual, but beautifully tailored outfit. She paired an oversized double-breasted white jacket with matching slouchy trousers, a white T-shirt, black ballet pumps, and statement sunglasses.

Dua Lipa

Roses, as seen on Margot Robbie and Emily Blunt, were a big fashion style of the evening, and singer Dua Lipa's textured crimson strapless column Prada gown jumped on the trend with a twist, evoking crumpled rose petals rather than the whole flower. Her half-up hair matched the shade of the gown perfectly, and she finished the look with statement earrings in pearls and rubies.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone, winner of Best Actress, donned a black Roman toga-inspired floor-length gown by Louis Vuitton. The dress was belted at the waist with a simple velvet cord that matched the fabric of the scalloped detailing adorning the asymmetrical, one-shouldered neckline. She let the dress shine by wearing unfussy, classic jewellery and tying her hair back in a slicked-back do.

Emily Blunt

As mentioned above, Emily Blunt wore a rose-inspired dress from Armani Privé. The one-sleeved dress had an enormous rose at the shoulder and was sequinned in vertical stripes down the length. She matched her lipstick to the gown and paired it with Tiffany & Co. jewels.
