"Don't Worry Darling" Premieres at Venice: Who Wore What

The highly anticipated psychological thriller "Don't Worry Darling" had its first premiere during this year's Venice Film Festival yesterday (5th September 2022), with the red carpet delivering stand-out looks and statement styles from the cast and guests. With the cast including names such as Harry Styles, Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde (also director), let's take a look at some of those in attendance and who wore what.

Singer and actor Harry Styles stars in the new film due to hit our cinema screens soon, and for the red carpet, looked incredibly sharp in his Gucci double-breasted suit. The sharpness is definitely enhanced through the strong padded shoulderline and the long shirt collar that lays over the blazer for a distinctive look. The jacket itself is designed with a six-button front and peak lapels, with the classic details of a welt chest pocket and two flapped pockets also featuring on the front. The cuffs are arranged in a five-button style and the trousers are cut with a flare in its shape, subtle in comparison to his photocall attire donned earlier in the day. This look as well was certainly eye-catching as the actor donned a cream pinstripe blazer, decorated with six golden buttons on the front and accessorising with a mid-blue striped ascot.

Actress Florence Pugh is also one of the stars of the new film as she stunned in a glistening Valentino playsuit embellished gown on the red carpet. With an off-shoulder neckline and an open split hem on the centre of the gown, the sleeves mirror the voluminous shape, finishing elbow length yet draping slightly to the side. The bodice is structured with boning channels and, from the waist down, the fabric drapes and flows gracefully whilst shimmering thanks to the vast amount of embellishments included in the design.

Another cast member of "Don't Worry Darling" is actress Gemma Chan, who sported a golden floor-length Louis Vuitton gown on the red carpet last night. The gown itself is constructed from a golden sequinned cloth, the tones strengthened through the extra floral embellishments and butterflies that are dotted throughout from the hipline down to the hem. The column silhouette is decorated with a wrap halterneck design at the top and follows round to the back in the same way, contrasting the softness and delicate nature of the embellishments.

Spotted attending the premiere was actor Chris Pine, who is also starring in the new film directed by Olivia Wilde. For his attire, he donned a Ralph Lauren brown single-breasted jacket with sharp peak lapels and single fastening on the front. With two thin double jet pockets situated below the waist, a white pocket square was styled in the welt pocket to echo the studded white dress shirt. A matching brown bow tie was worn around the collar and his trousers were slim with turn-up hems, a stark contrast to the flared red trousers he wore for his photocall look earlier. This Giuliva Heritage outfit consisted of the trousers worn with a cream shirt worn open to create a V-neck, styled underneath a dark navy double-breasted blazer with a noticeably wide shawl collar and botanical-printed pocket square.

Actress Tessa Thompson continued the theme of eye-catching looks during yesterday's red carpet, wearing a futuristic mint green Marc Jacobs gown. Spaghetti straps are included in the design as the back falls low down, outlined through the fullness of the textured, green and dramatic sequinned puff sleeves and neckline. This fabric is included in a asymmetric fabric panel also on the bodice, sitting over the plain mint green cloth which falls to the floor and brushes it gently. The front of the gown could be said to be maybe more elegant than the back, showing a brilliant contrast to create a stronger look as the green sequined fabric trails behind to create this train.

Playwright Jeremy O. Harris kept it sleek and classy wearing a two-piece evening Gucci suit for the red carpet premiere of "Don't Worry Darling" at this year's festival. The jacket is designed with a smooth shawl collar on the front, leading to the single-button front and the thin double jet pockets. The cuffs are finished in an overlapping four-button style with great padded shoulders to create an elegant top line. The centre front line curves round to the straight hem, layered over the slim trousers that finish above the ankle as a cool style choice. To finish the attire, a double cuff dress shirt is worn underneath with a beige pink bow tie underneath the collar.

Alessandro Michele

Gucci's creative director and fashion designer Alessandro Michele took to the red carpet in a slightly more smart/relaxed tone for the occasion. The blazer is soft grey in colour and double-breasted in cut, finished with six buttons on the front and four-button cuffs in the same design. The peak lapels are distinctively wide to balance out the padded shoulders, whilst a welt pocket is included on the chest and two large patch pockets at the bottom. Leaving it unfastened allowed the sharp lines to be on show down the centre front, whilst also giving a glimpse to the printed white tee worn underneath. The trousers were designed with crisp wide flares with the classic centre crease on the front, the hem falling to almost cover the shoes completely.

Anne Parillaud

Actress Anne Parillaud opted for a golden tailored look as she attended the premiere donning a two-piece suit with a sheer black lace appliqué blouse underneath. The main suit cloth was made up of many golden circles to create almost a disco feel to the outfit. The blazer included notch lapels and double jet pockets below the waist with a single vent on the back. The sleeves were rolled up to create to create a distinctive detail through the jacket's black lining and linking itself to the pairing of the black blouse. The trousers included pocket flaps situated right below the waistband on the front with angled pockets in the side seams and patch pockets on the back, whilst cut in a straight-leg style.
