Elevating the Groom: A 6ft 6 Masterpiece for a Zimbabwe Destination Wedding
Share
When you stand at 6ft 6, a standard "off-the-rack" suit simply won't do. For a height this commanding, exceptional tailoring needs to be architectural—carefully balanced to celebrate stature while ensuring every proportion is precisely right.
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Panashe Nyachiya into our Birmingham Jewellery Quarter studio to create a collection of bespoke pieces for a special celebration in Harare, Zimbabwe.
From a striking three-piece formal ensemble to a luxurious velvet evening jacket, every element was designed around Panashe's proportions, personal style and attention to detail.
The result? Two distinctive handcrafted looks designed to make an impression from the ceremony through to the evening celebrations.

Look 1: The Showstopper 3-Piece Suit
For the main event, Panashe opted for a design that perfectly balances traditional formalwear with contemporary bespoke detailing.

The Jacket
The centrepiece is a stunning white patterned fabric, elevated with a dramatic 3.5" black velvet shawl lapel.
The contrast creates a sophisticated monochrome aesthetic, while slanted flap pockets with contrast detailing and covered cuff buttons add further bespoke refinement.
The proportions of the jacket were carefully considered for Panashe's 6ft 6 frame, ensuring the overall silhouette remained balanced and elegant.
The Waistcoat
Underneath sits a jet-black double-breasted 3x3 horseshoe scoop waistcoat, complete with a matching shawl lapel.
The deep scoop creates a beautifully elongated line through the torso—particularly effective when designing for a taller gentleman—and provides the perfect frame for the bespoke shirt and accessories.
The Trousers
Completing the three-piece ensemble are sharp jet-black trousers, featuring belt loops, side adjusters and brace buttons for maximum versatility and a precise bespoke fit.
The trousers were crafted from world-renowned Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) cloth, bringing together exceptional quality, structure and comfort.
The Personal Touch
As with every bespoke garment we create, the real magic is often found in the details.
Panashe's suit features personalised embroidery, creating a lasting reminder of the occasion and adding an entirely individual element to the garment.
Look 2: The Velvet Reception Jacket
For the evening celebrations, Panashe transitions into something altogether more luxurious—a jet-black velvet dinner jacket designed to bring a touch of old-school glamour to the occasion.

The Detail
The jacket features a 3" contrast jacquard/textured shawl lapel, creating subtle depth against the rich black velvet.
Inside, the jacket reveals a striking small blue paisley lining finished with baby blue piping.
It is a perfect example of how bespoke tailoring allows the wearer to keep the exterior sophisticated and understated while introducing personality through the finer details.
A Personal Tribute
Beneath the collar, Panashe also chose to include a meaningful piece of embroidery:
"Son of Judith & Caleb"
A subtle detail, but one that gives the garment an unmistakably personal connection to family and heritage.
The Finishing Touches: Bespoke Shirt & Accessories
A great suit is only as good as the foundations beneath it.
To complement both looks, we created a crisp white bespoke shirt, featuring a semi-cutaway collar and curved double cuffs.
The cuffs were personalised with "P&N" embroidery, adding another discreet bespoke detail.
The look was completed with a custom bow tie and an ivory and gold button set (BA20236), introducing an elegant finishing touch to the overall ensemble.

Why Bespoke Matters for the Tall Gentleman
At A Hand Tailored Suit, our philosophy has always been simple: fit the man, not the standard size.
For taller gentlemen, this becomes particularly important.
A suit isn't simply a matter of adding extra length. The entire garment needs to be considered—from jacket length and button positioning through to sleeve pitch, trouser proportions and the relationship between the jacket, waistcoat and shirt.
At 6ft 6, Panashe's stature naturally commands attention. Our job was to ensure his clothing complemented that presence rather than overwhelming it.
Through considered proportions, premium cloths, personalised detailing and our traditional bespoke approach, every element was created specifically for him.
The result is formalwear that feels every bit as individual as the man wearing it.
From Birmingham to Harare
Creating bespoke clothing for a destination celebration is always an exciting process.
From our studio in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter to a special occasion in Harare, Zimbabwe, Panashe's wardrobe demonstrates exactly what bespoke tailoring can achieve when the garment is designed from the ground up around the individual.
Two distinctive looks. Exceptional fabrics. Personal details. And a silhouette designed specifically for a 6ft 6 frame.
That's the beauty of bespoke.
