London Fashion Week 2024 took place between the 16th and 20th of February. The event was celebrating its fortieth anniversary and the schedule featured both menswear and womenswear designers, with highlights including Burberry, ERDEM, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, and Simone Rocha.
This Fashion Week featured clothes for the autumn/winter 24 seasons. Although the designers stamped their own style onto the collections, there were a lot of stand-out trends, from the now ubiquitous sheer fabrics of many a past runway and award event to faux fur, big bows, oversized outer garments, and striking prints.
JW Anderson's collection, presented on the 19th of February at Seymour Leisure Centre, comprised sculptural and oversized garments with practical and comfortable ones. Take a look at the full runway show below.
According to his previous interviews, JW Anderson loves crafts, which was apparent in this latest collection. He used giant skeins of wool to make rotund sculptural skirts and ribbons with wax flowers at the waist for another take on the hand-crafted skirt look. In his S/S 24 collection, Anderson played with proportions. He continued this theme with massive overcoats, enormous sleeves, and balloon-esque miniskirt and jumper sets. However, there were some more wearable pieces (as long as you can afford the hefty price tag!) in the form of regular jumpers, primary school-reminiscent underwear, flowy dresses, and beautifully tailored trousers.
