Forty Years of London Fashion Week 2024: The Simone Rocha Runway - A Hand Tailored Suit

Forty Years of London Fashion Week 2024: The Simone Rocha Runway

London Fashion Week 2024 took place between the 16th and 20th of February. The event was celebrating its fortieth anniversary, and the schedule featured both menswear and womenswear designers, with highlights including Burberry, ERDEM, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, and Simone Rocha.

This Fashion Week featured clothes for the autumn/winter 24 seasons. Although the designers stamped their own style onto the collections, there were a lot of stand-out trends, from the now ubiquitous sheer fabrics of many a past runway and award event to faux fur, big bows, oversized outer garments, and striking prints.

Simone Rocha's Fall/Winter 2024 collection, nicknamed 'The Wake', was presented at St Bartholomew's Church in Farringdon. According to Harpers Bazaar, the collection was partly inspired by Queen Victoria's mourning dress and personal clothing. The runway was, therefore, heavily dominated by historical silhouettes and exquisite hand embellishments, beading, and embroidery. Sheer fabric was a significant part of this collection, as was faux-fur detailing, capes and coats, tulle and satin. Perhaps the most surprising part of the collection was Rocha's continued inclusion of Crocs (from her Spring/Summer 2024 collection) amongst the delicate and ethereal pieces and more elegant and refined ballet flats and chic pumps. Take a look at some of the stand-out pieces below.
