From the Heart of the Jewellery Quarter to a Coventry I Do: Alfie’s Bespoke Journey

From the Heart of the Jewellery Quarter to a Coventry I Do: Alfie’s Bespoke Journey

When it comes to a wedding day, the details aren't just details—they are the fabric of the story. For Alfie and Rosie’s special day in Coventry, Alfie chose to craft his story with A Hand Tailored Suit in Birmingham’s iconic Jewellery Quarter.

The result? A stunning, sharp, and deeply personal three-piece suit that perfectly balanced classic tailoring with modern flair. Here is a look behind the design of this bespoke masterpiece.

The Foundation: Midnight Blue & Merino Wool

Alfie opted for a sophisticated Midnight Blue merino wool with a subtle blue check. This fabric choice offers a rich depth of color that transforms beautifully from the natural light of the ceremony to the evening celebrations.

The three-piece ensemble was designed with a cohesive vision:

  • The Jacket: A sleek two-button single-breasted (SB2) cut featuring 2.75" peaked lapels for a touch of formal "edge." To keep the look modern, Alfie chose slanted flapped pockets and a double vent.
  • The Waistcoat: A sharp four-button single-breasted (SB4) waistcoat with a notched base, providing a clean silhouette when the jacket is removed for the reception.
  • The Trousers: A tailored slim-fit cut, featuring both belt loops and side adjusters for the perfect fit, plus internal brace buttons for that traditional sartorial touch.

Secret Details: Aqua Paisley & Personal Flourishes

The true magic of a bespoke suit lies in the elements only the wearer (and the bride!) might see. Alfie’s suit featured a framed Aqua Paisley lining (Ref: 185), creating a vibrant contrast against the deep midnight wool.

To tie the look together, we incorporated:

  • Contrast Stitching: A bold "097" contrast stitch on the cuff and the bottom waistcoat buttonhole.
  • The "Flash" Cuff: Matching the Aqua Paisley lining to the jacket cuffs and the breast pocket (which doubles as a built-in pocket square).
  • Custom Embroidery: For a truly intimate touch, Alfie had initials embroidered on the back of the collar—a hidden nod to the start of his and Rosie's new chapter.

The Finishing Touches

No suit is complete without the right architecture underneath. Alfie paired his wool suit with a White Egyptian Cotton shirt, featuring a versatile semi-cutaway collar and a matching navy blue bowtie. The medium brown buttons on the suit added a warm, earthy contrast to the cool tones of the merino wool.
