As her co-host Amy Poehler was hosting from Beverley Hills, Tina Fey herself was co-hosting from New York, and her first outfit of the night was a Versace tailored tuxedo-style dress. Featuring satin peak lapels and visible darts on the front, the dress fastened like a double-breasted jacket, giving the overall look a lovely shape and silhouette. The structured shoulders elevated this outfit to be red carpet chic for the presenter of the night.
'Emma' actress Anya Taylor-Joy was a winner on the night for her role in the Netflix series, 'The Queen's Gambit', winning a Golden Globe for Best Performing Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV - her look was award-winning too. She wore a beautiful Dior lurex green floor-length gown with the coat to match. The dress drapes so elegantly as the coat was worn off-shoulder, providing a soft line but delivering a strong impact on the night: Anya Taylor-Joy epitomised vintage Hollywood glamour in her look.
Another winner on the night also wearing Dior was actor Daniel Kaluuya as he won Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in the film, 'Judas and the Black Messiah.' His two-piece attire consisted of a navy wool single-breasted with silk peak lapels paired with black wool trousers. It was inspiration for the smart/casual dress code as he wore a matching black knit underneath, really allowing the contrasting jacket to stand out. The lapels include a defining detail of white parallel lines either side, enhancing the tailored jacket and enhancing Daniel Kaluuya's winning presence on the night.
'The Crown' actor Josh O'Connor was awarded Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama TV Series for his role in the series, and what he wore on the night was certainly regal too. Wearing a two-piece suit from Loewe, the black jacket featured flapped pockets, the standard breast pocket and contrasting white peak lapels, with the ends folded down either side to add more drama to the suit. The trousers with a relaxed fit feature sharp centre creases, whilst his shirt with the wing collar was finished off with a cream cravat: details that made Josh O'Connor's suit very award-winning.
The Queen of 'The Crown' herself, Olivia Coleman, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama TV Series for the series, as well as Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in 'The Father'. Wearing Giorgio Armani on the night, her silver and pink jacket included a one-button fastening (matching button on the cuffs) with notch lapels and a velvet finish on the cuffs. Along with the padded and elevated shoulder line transforming the jacket into a piece full of confidence, the velvet cuffs and matching velvet trousers provide the outfit with a subtle shine on the night, and Olivia Colman shone on the night.
Wearing Valentino on the night as he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV for his role in, 'Schitt's Creek', Daniel Levy wore an asymmetric citrus jacket with lime green trousers and a matching sparkly roll-neck jumper. On the jacket are flapped pockets, the standard breast pocket, notch lapels and a matching belt tie for the fastening. The straight-leg trousers finish at the ankle with the centre creases down the front to add extra sharpness to this monochrome look which Daniel Levy worked so particularly well for the ceremony.
Leslie Odom. Jr
Another star spotted in Valentino on the night was actor Leslie Odom. Jr, nominated for Best Original Song with 'Speak Now' and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in the film, 'One Night in Miami'. His two-piece chocolate brown suit was styled with a bright green roll-neck underneath an open collar light pink shirt underneath, a soft and stand-out look overall. The slightly oversized jacket with flapped pockets includes peak lapels which fall right down to the hem of the jacket and a matching belt tie for the fastening. The tailored trousers are really defined from the sharp centre creases as Leslie Odom. Jr certainly looks the part on the night.
Director of 'One Night in Miami', Regina King was nominated for Best Director of a Motion Picture on the night and looked truly glamorous in her Louis Vuitton floor-length fitted gown. The gown was designed with over 40,000 metallic sequins that really made the actress/director shine on the night. With an asymmetric shoulder line also, the gown is an example of combining rich, vintage glamour with a slight twist on the fitting silhouette. No doubt about it: the nominee Regina King really glistened on the night in this award-winning look.
