GQ Men of the Year Awards - A Hand Tailored Suit

GQ Men of the Year Awards

Yesterday, on Tuesday, 3rd of September, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards took place for the 22nd year at the Tate Modern in London. The award ceremony works in conjunction with Hugo Boss. At this event, the most stylish and best-dressed men show up for a glamorous yearly event. Last year HRH The Prince of Wales attended as well as John Legend, Dua Lipa, and Chris Hemsworth.

David Beckham

David Beckham has graced 11 GQ covers and received the Editor’s award. In 1999, David Beckham played for Manchester United’s treble season, which made history. Twenty years later, he’s still relevant and building an empire with his fashionista wife. He’s committed to fashion, football, and philanthropy.

Here’s David with prominent writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. He wears a classic black tuxedo with silk stripes down the leg. He has rounded lapels with no notching and shiny patent leather shoes, looking every bit as dapper as he did 20 years ago (if not better). Phoebe wore a black sequinned jumpsuit with mesh cutout.

Michael Sheen

The star of the popular Amazon show and Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman collaborative novel, Good Omens, Michael Sheen hosted this year.

On British GQ’s Instagram, there’s a video of Sheen providing top tips on giving a speech. He wore a black suit with notched lapels and a crisp white button-up shirt without a tie.

Sheen attended with his pregnant girlfriend Anna Lundberg. He wore a grey tuxedo with notched lapels and covered buttons. He looked happy, stylish, relaxed, and handsome.

Richard Madden

We are no stranger to writing about the stylings of Richard Madden. This year he won the most stylish man award wearing a bespoke Hugo Boss midnight blue tuxedo jacket with pointed, notched lapels in black silk. His white shirt had covered buttons. His trousers had a silk stripe down the side of the leg. He wore Italian patent leather lace-up shoes to complete the look.

Iggy Pop

James Newell Osterberg Jr., best known as the singer Iggy Pop, continues to release records, despite the height of his popularity in the 1960s and 1970s. GQ awarded him the Lifetime Achievement award. Iggy looked very rock and roll with a navy single-breasted suit and mesh shirt underneath, completing the look with sunglasses. He wore shoes a cross between an ankle boot and dress shoes with a buckle. He wore his signature mid-length hairstyle.

Taron Egerton

Rocketman actor, Taron Egerton, won the Actor of the Year award for his Oscar-worthy performance as Sir Elton John. Like many guests, Egerton opted for a tuxedo too. He wore a classic black tux with notched lapels and silk detailing on the lapel and down the pant leg. He wore patent black leather shoes but opted for a plain white shirt without covered buttons.
