London Fashion Week 2023 Highlights: Aaron Esh - A Hand Tailored Suit

London Fashion Week 2023 Highlights: Aaron Esh

The London Fashion Week extravaganza took place this year between the 15th and 19th of September. Most designers host their shows at various secret locations throughout the city, but the main headquarters for the week was 180 The Strand and Somerset House.

Aaron Esh debuted at London Fashion Week with his Spring/Summer 24 ready-to-wear collection. According to Esh, the runway took place at the Tate Modern to reveal a collection that brought the "rigour of Savile Row tailoring with the spirit of British subcultures" together. Called "Chaos and Control", the outfits were sleek and sexy but easy to wear luxury in any modern-day setting.

Take a look at the runway show before we dive into some of the pieces that particularly caught our eye.

Outfit #1

This outfit features a three-in-one sleeveless charcoal coat-jacket-waistcoat hybrid worn without a shirt that is beautifully tailored to nip in at the waist before flaring slightly at the hips and ending at the calf. The silky material and covered buttons make it traditional couture, while the loose fit and matching straight-cut slouchy trousers make for a contemporary, wearable look.

Outfit #2

This grey wool set is very 80s-inspired with its boxy shoulder-padded double-breasted coat and flounced and ruffled puffball-style skirt.

Outfit #3

70s-style bell bottoms were often seen on last season's red carpets, and Esh has jumped on the trend, designing floor-skimming, loose-fitting, comfortable jeans that have been given a modern twist by pairing them with a slightly cropped battleship grey cardigan and matching coloured leather jacket.

Outfit #4

Women's pantsuits were also given a silk makeover. The comfortable, pyjama-like black silk suits were loose-fitting and moveable. The shirt featured a keyhole detail at the breast and an unusual turtleneck-like collar.

Outfit #5

Comfort, draping, and moveability were seen throughout the collection. Here, a relatively simple but beautifully cut sleeveless plum gown captures the essence of all three.
