London Fashion Week. Day Four, 12th June 2023: Saul Nash - A Hand Tailored Suit

London Fashion Week. Day Four, 12th June 2023: Saul Nash

London Fashion Week this year took place between the 9th-12th June and 15th-19th September 2023. It showcased womenswear and menswear as a combined digital and physical event. The June programme featured both established designers and the class of 2023 fashion graduates, focussing on their graduate collections.

Day four featured the most extensive round-up of runway shows of the week, showcasing established designer Saul Nash, The University of East London Emerging Designer Show, Models of Diversity Fashion Revolution, and Vanity Hub Africa showing "the best of the best" of Africa's couture to the world. Here at A Hand Tailored Suit, we cast our sartorial eye over Saul Nash's runway show.

Saul Nash

Saul Nash is a UK-based designer and dancer who graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Menswear in 2018. He went on to establish his brand that same year. Due to his background in dance, Nash uses his designs to enhance the liberation of movement. His goal is to bridge the gap between luxury menswear and sportswear.

The London Fashion Week runway was a mix of beach, sport, and loungewear in bright colours, such as red, blue, pink, and yellow, mixed with neutrals. Let's take a look at some of the designs.

Outfit #1

This bright red beach look featured a sleeveless vest with added interest in the white stitch detailing along the armscye, neckline, and front panel. The matching-coloured, loose-fitting shorts had a comfortable thick drawstring waistband and piping down the front of the legs.

Outfit #2

Another look suitable for the beach was this royal blue matching shorts and shirt set. The goggles around the neck of the model suggest that once done lounging stylishly, you would be ready to enter the water without having to change. The short-sleeved shirt featured a covered button placket, adding to the luxurious feel of the garment, and nude triangular panels at the armscye for interest and perhaps practicality in the heat.

This next activewear set featured two-toned beige and navy blue slouchy-fit jogging bottoms and an oversized long-sleeved windbreaker-style top.

Outfit #4

This set combined lounge and activewear with a sky blue knit sweater, loose-fitting jogging bottoms with white piping and air vents, and a dolphin motif (to continue the ocean and beach theme) button-up bomber-style jacket.

Outfit #5

Another look combining lounge and activewear was this grey jacket with a royal blue print, lining, and top-stitching details. It was paired with plain grey slouchy loose-fitting trousers. The whole look, from the fit to the material, seemed very 90s shell suit inspired with a modern twist.
