London Fashion Week, September 2025: Emilia Wickstead

London Fashion Week began on September 18th and will continue until September 22nd. It follows on from last week's New York Fashion Week and will move on to Milan and Paris, finishing on October 7th. September Fashion Weeks are designers' opportunities to showcase their Spring/Summer collections for the upcoming year. This year's top designers at LFW include Burberry, Emilia Wickstead, Simone Rocha, Harris Redd, and JW Anderson, along with numerous up-and-coming designers, from those starting to become popular, such as Aaron Esh, to those making their runway debuts, like Dreaming Eli and Rory William Docherty.

Royal favourite Emilia Wickstead showcased her Spring/Summer 2026 collection at her flagship store on Sloane Street in London on September 21st. Take a look at the collection in the Instagram reel below.

Wickstead took inspiration for her latest collection from the photography and sartorial inclinations of Robert Mapplethorpe. The photographer's work, including still lifes of flowers, was visible in the prints hand-painted onto silk. His own personal style, featuring denim, jackets, shirts, and leather chokers, was incorporated into the collection, marking a departure from Wickstead's usual sophisticated womenswear. However, the designer kept to her brand's roots using soft, romantic, and feminine fabrics and silhouettes. The collection was an interpretation of Robert Mapplethorpe and his work rather than a direct copy. Thus, the colour palette diverged from her usual soft tones and included bold, vibrant colours, such as reds and pinks, neon yellow, and cobalt blue, while also incorporating more neutral pieces in blacks and greys. Garments included balloon-hem dresses with high, gathered necklines, dresses with drop-flared skirts, loose, tailored trousers, skirts, and jackets, light-weight collared jumpers, mini skirts, corseted dresses, dresses with windowpane check patterns, dresses with floral prints, and denim in the form of jeans, jackets, and shirts. Let's take a closer look at some of the pieces from the collection.
