Milan Fashion Week took place this year at the Palazzo Giureconsulti between the 19th and 25th of September, 2023. It was established in 1958 and is part of the big four fashion weeks, including New York, London, and Paris, that take place bi-annually in February and September. Milan Fashion Week has more than forty shows each season, and tourists enthusiastically flock there each year.
The Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 24 collection was simply named "Woman". The runway was dominated by black and white with the occasional pop of leopard print. The designers played with sheer fabrics and tuxedo styles. They deconstructed the classic tuxedo and adorned their ensembles with elements of it.
Take a look at the full runway show before we dive into some of the pieces that particularly caught our eye.
Outfit #1
The collection started with supermodel Vittoria Ceretti strutting down the catwalk in a cropped polka dot shirt paired with charcoal pinstriped hotpants, black stockings, and a matching tailored jacket.
Outfit #2
This suit was a play on the traditional tuxedo. The monochromatic black look had slim-fitting trousers cropped at the ankle to complement the cropped single-breasted tuxedo jacket with contrasting satin peak lapels. It was paired with a transparent black shirt with a ruffled collar and cuffs and a satin belt to echo the satin lapels.
Outfit #3
This suit also played with the traditional tuxedo style. The trousers were again cropped, but this time flared at the bottom hem. The strikingly white shoulder-padded jacket was double-breasted, featuring contrasting black wide peak lapels, flap pockets, and buttons. It was also nipped at the waist for a less boxy, more "feminine" appearance.
Outfit #4
Here, a classic black tuxedo jacket with satin shawl lapels and matching satin flap pockets had been reworked into a one-shouldered asymmetric dress. A black clutch, pointed-toe stilettos, and satin bow neck decoration finished the outfit.
Outfit #5
Finally, this understated black silk satin calf-length evening coat stood out for its double-breasted cut, hidden buttons, matching belt to shape the waist, and its unusual and full drop-shouldered bishop sleeves.
