Milan Fashion Week took place this year at the Palazzo Giureconsulti between the 19th and 25th of September, 2023. It was established in 1958 and is part of the big four fashion weeks, including New York, London, and Paris, that take place bi-annually in February and September. Milan Fashion Week has more than forty shows each season, and tourists enthusiastically flock there each year.
Fendi's Spring/Summer 24 collection was a mixture of sharp masculine silhouettes contrasting with more feminine lines, asymmetry, cutout detailing, and bold colour blocking. There were structured blazers, coats and trousers, silk evening gowns, and daytime bodycon dresses. The colour palette was a blend of muted blacks, whites, greys, browns, and blues, with bold yellows and oranges.
Take a look at the full runway show before we dive into some of the pieces that particularly caught our eye.
Outfit #1
This grey suit set had an oversized peak lapel blazer, an intriguing asymmetrical miniskirt, and a lightweight knit mock-neck sweater. It was styled with bold pops of colour in the acid-yellow clutch bag and bright orange gloves.
Outfit #2
A sky-blue ribbed-knit set had a thigh-length cardigan with no buttons and a matching midi skirt with a unique zip closure at the front. It was combined with a grey ribbed-knit turtleneck sleeveless sweater with an eye-catching keyhole cutout on the chest. The contrasting bright accessories continued in the form of a bright orange clutch and matching gloves.
Outfit #3
Here, an oversized sleeveless grey jacket with natural shoulders, peak lapels, and, once again, an absence of buttons was paired with a grey, tailored skirt and a colour-blocked bandeau top.
Outfit #4
Wide-legged slouchy-cut cream trousers were paired with a more fitted matching coloured cropped jacket (again, without buttons!) and a pastel green long-sleeved lightweight sweater for a modern take on the women's pantsuit. Extra interest was added with neon yellow high heels.
Outfit #5
Finally, this colour-blocked leather jacket of brown, orange, cream, and blue was combined with another turtleneck keyhole sweater and a complementary colour-blocked miniskirt with an asymmetrical ruffle on the left seam.
