Milan Fashion Week 2023 Highlights: Giorgio Armani - A Hand Tailored Suit

Milan Fashion Week 2023 Highlights: Giorgio Armani

Milan Fashion Week took place this year at the Palazzo Giureconsulti between the 19th and 25th of September, 2023. It was established in 1958 and is part of the big four fashion weeks, including New York, London, and Paris, that take place bi-annually in February and September. Milan Fashion Week has more than forty shows each season, and tourists enthusiastically flock there each year.

Giorgio Armani closed Milan Fashion Week 2023 with his Spring/Summer 24 offering. The collection was titled "Vibrations" and featured sheer fabrics combined with silks and satins to create light and movement with every step. The colour palette represented the sky's colours at dusk: bronze, silvery grey, blue, green, purple, black, and white. Despite the translucent fabrics, the clothes were elegant, practical, and not too sexy.

Take a look at the full runway show before we dive into some of the pieces that particularly caught our eye.

Outfit #1

This first outfit fits the Vibrations theme with its silk satin loose but straight-cut silvery grey trousers that have plenty of movement. The more rigid and formal single-breasted black-based sparkly jacket with its shoulder pads and shawl lapels evoked fluidity with ocean blue and emerald green sound wave-like patterns.

Outfit #2

A seafoam-coloured bandeau top edged with black piping was patterned in a flowing wave-like shape and paired with the same loose-cut grey trousers as above. This time, the double-breasted sapphire blue jacket was given movement with its oversized slouchy fit, natural shoulders, and by being left unbuttoned to fall and swing unaffectedly.

Outfit #3

This stunning loose-fitting emerald-coloured evening coat was lined in azure silk. The coat comprised dozens of panels of wavily-cut fabric expertly sewn together. The waist was cinched with a belt in the same blue silk-lined green fabric.

Outfit #4

The same style of loose-cut silk trousers in different hues, here a beautiful deep navy, were styled differently throughout the collection. Here, they were paired with a white collarless, three-quarter-length sleeve shirt and a cropped textured black jacket decorated with aqua and purple shimmering beads in a sound wave pattern.

Outfit #5

Finally, this glittery black jacket is absolutely stunning. The structured, shoulder-padded jacket was given fluidity and movement with expertly cut and folded fabric and a softening silk flower detail in black and shades of blue at the centre front.
