September marks the beginning of month-long fashion show extravaganzas for spring/summer 2025, starting in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally wrapping up in Paris at the start of October.
Milan Fashion Week started on the 17th of September and will finish on the 23rd of September, 2024. It will feature catwalks and presentations from well-known brands and designers, including Fendi, Boss, Prada, Moschino, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Versace, Bottega Veneta, and Dolce & Gabbana.
The Italian Fashion Week has only just started, so the key trends across the runways have yet to be established. However, like New York and London, there are bound to be plenty of bold colours offset by neutral tones, the now seemingly ubiquitous use of sheer fabrics, and a harping back to past decades in fashion history.
Boss unveiled its Spring/Summer 25 collection in the courtyard of the Palazzo del Senato, which had been transformed into a beautiful verdant oasis in the middle of the city. Take a look at the complete runway show below.
The collection was titled "Out of Office" and reimagined the structured and stiff formal wear the brand is known for while keeping to its gorgeous tailoring roots. Rather than the traditional double-breasted power suit, the focus was on suits in lighter fabrics with roomier cuts and an absence of constricting shoulder pads and internal structures. There was also more casual shirting, below-the-knee tailored shorts, and deconstructed shawl lapeled silk coats. Women's trouser hems were raised above the ankle, and increased freedom was added to blazers, trenchcoats, dresses, and skirts through theatrical draping and wrapped construction. Traditionally casual pieces, such as bomber jackets, were elevated with tailoring techniques. The colour palette was a mixture of earth tones, whites, blacks, and blues. Take a closer look at some of the pieces from the collection below.
