September marks the beginning of month-long fashion show extravaganzas for spring/summer 2025, starting in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally wrapping up in Paris at the start of October.
Milan Fashion Week started on the 17th of September and will finish on the 23rd of September, 2024. It will feature catwalks and presentations from well-known brands and designers, including Fendi, Boss, Prada, Moschino, Emporio Armani, Gucci, Versace, Bottega Veneta, and Dolce & Gabbana.
The Italian Fashion Week has only just started, so the key trends across the runways have yet to be established. However, like New York and London, there are bound to be plenty of bold colours offset by neutral tones, the now seemingly ubiquitous use of sheer fabrics, and a harping back to past decades in fashion history.
Fendi showed their Spring/Summer 25 womenswear collection on Tuesday. The fashion house is celebrating its one-hundredth birthday! Take a look at the full runway show below.
Creative director Kim Jones celebrated Fendi's one-hundredth birthday by creating a collection inspired mainly by the 1920s. He used stereotypical 1920s silhouettes and decorations, such as fringed flapper dresses, abundant beading, Art Deco styles, and dropped waists, but gave them a modern twist for 2025. There were sheer dresses embellished with sequins in Art Deco motifs and fringing, classic cocktail dresses, silk shifts, and knitted coordinating sets with boy shorts. The outfits then moved on to more 40s-inspired silhouettes with cinched-waisted pencil skirts and collar shirt dresses. Many of the collection's pieces were paired with Red Wing's famous Heritage Moc Toe Boot. These gave the delicate, elegant looks a modern, robust, practical twist. Take a closer look at some of the pieces from the runway below.
