More Glamour from Venice Film Festival 2022: The Ladies' Style

If the opening ceremony of the iconic Venice Film Festival wasn't stylish enough, the days that followed would certainly top the fashion we have already seen. It was a busy few days, with more film premieres, more red carpets and more famous faces taking to the spotlight and wearing more glamorous attires - and there were loads to choose from! We've narrowed down some of our favourite looks from the ladies attending between days 2 and 5 (Thursday 1st - Sunday 4th September).

When: 1st September 2022 - "Tar" Red Carpet (Day Two)

Actress Cate Blanchett looked effortless in a black sleeveless velvet ensemble from Schiaparelli with flared legs on the trousers for that modest yet dramatic finish. The drama was enhanced through the floral arrangement and decoration that decorated the corset bodice's neckline, adding a gorgeous pop of colour and capturing the summer vibes during a red carpet, black tie event. The bodice looks to have a slight flared hem also to mirror the trousers, highlighting the fitted silhouette of the bodice further in this outfit.

When: 1st September 2022 - "Bardo" Red Carpet (Day Two)

Model and influencer Giorgia Soleri rocked a bit of Moschino tailoring for her red carpet ensemble, as she wore a wide peak lapel blazer with a pair of wide-leg silhouette trousers. The black evening suit was modernised through the addition of embellishments and jewels on the sleeves to create this rocky, edgy yet chic look. The blazer itself had a low collar with a single-breasted front, fastened up to highlight the tailored and fitted form the garment had. Its silhouette was quite vintage thanks to the flared hem sitting on the hips, its sharpness contrasted through the looseness and fabric drapes of the trousers.

When: 2nd September 2022 - Women's Stories Gala Night Hosted By Vanity Fair And The Red Sea International Film Festival (Day Three)

Actress Coco Rebecca Edogamhe was also spotted donning a cool bit of tailoring at the Women's Stories Gala, where a black pinstripe suit was her style of choice. There was a slight oversized and relaxed feel to the tailored jacket and trousers; yet the strong shoulder structure was maintained across the top to balance out the double-breasted style. Six large buttons were on the front (3x3 arrangement) with flapped pockets sitting below the waist and smaller versions of the buttons featuring on the jacket's cuffs. The peak lapels were wide and the pinstripe design to the cloth had a subtle glimmer to it, capturing the evening glamour in a modest way.

When: 3rd September 2022 - Miu Miu Women's Tales (Day Four)

The women's tailoring has been strong so far at Venice Film Festival as film director Janicza Bravo looked dapper in her black two-piece number, decorated with gems. The placement of the gems is perfect so as not to hide the crisp lines of the suit, which is made up of a two-button jacket with notch lapels and a pair of high-waisted, straight-leg trousers. The flapped pockets are positioned very low down on the blazer as the welt pocket sits on the chest. The blouse underneath is designed with a wing collar and thin black trimmings falling vertically to echo the style of a pleated dress shirt. The cuffs are long and show through the jacket cuffs for that cutting edge style, also worn unfastened too.

When: 4th September 2022 - "The Whale" & "Filming Italy Best Movie Achievement Award" Red Carpet (Day Five)

Another suiting look was donned by the actress Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, wearing a deep rose pink two-piece suit. The jacket featured wide peak lapels and a two-button front hat was central on the body. Two jet pockets were positioned level with the last button on the front, whilst three more buttons were included on the jacket cuffs either side. With soft padding in the shoulder to create a great line, the seam and dart stitching were very distinctive and added extra structure. The trousers were a cropped length with the hem finishing above the ankle, whilst a defined centre crease was incorporated into the straight-leg construction.

When: 4th September 2022 - "L'Immensità" Red Carpet (Day Five)

Fashion blogger Jessica Wang looked graceful in a layered tulle Carolina Herrera gown that was made up of purple and pink shades. The top layer was a deep purple which created the corset bodice and somewhat softened the neckline of the gown itself. Contrasting the fitted bodice was the layered skirt, which through the top purple layer, the other colours could be seen, softly hinting at the vibrancy of the pinks and purples themselves. The pleating was sharp and vast to help create this voluminous shape and maintain a sharpness to the hem also, all draping towards a long train at the back.

When: 4th September 2022 - "The Whale" & "Filming Italy Best Movie Achievement Award" Red Carpet (Day Five)

Actress Laura Harrier stunned in gold as she wore a Yves Saint Laurent mini long-sleeved dress with a draping fabric tie in the centre. Ruching was a key fabric manipulation technique that allowed the gold to showcase more hues of the colour, transforming this monochrome piece into an elevated red carpet outfit. The front of the dress was cut with a keyhole design as the neck was embellished in a geometric silver design, which echoes the sheen and glimmer the fabric conveys under the light.

When: 4th September 2022 - "L'Immensità" Red Carpet (Day Five)

Actress and presenter Rocío Muñoz Morales has been bringing the festival looks to this event and for the fifth day, sported a dashing white monochrome tailcoat ensemble from Kiton. The tailcoat itself is designed with a six-button front and angled hem which sharply leads into the tails at the back of the garment. The four buttons on each cuff overlap, and the collar is cut in the peak lapel form to balance out the padded shoulders. Underneath, she wears a single-breasted waistcoat with a unique lapel style and fastened with four buttons. The hemline curves round to the back from the short notch, just styled over the two-button waistband of the trousers. These are high-waisted and tapered with the satin stripes down the side, finishing perfectly above the ankle.

There are so many other dazzling looks from these days at the Venice Film Festival, it really was difficult to choose just a select few! Here are some others you might found eye-catching, which is your favourite so far?
