This year, New York Fashion Week took place between the 8th and 13th of September. New York Fashion Week is a biannual event occurring in February and September, with February focusing on menswear. The main headquarters for Fashion Week is Spring Studios on Varick Street, but designers also host their own runways throughout New York City.
Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera presented their SS24 runway at the American Art Museum. The silhouettes had both sharp and clean lines, often softened with more flowing and floaty pieces, romantic prints, or delicate florals. The late 1990s aesthetic was prominently evident, identified by lightweight knits, A-line skirts, and stiletto heels. Black and white featured heavily, but there was no shortage of pastel shades, bright yellow, gold and silver.
Take a look at the full runway show below before we dive into some of the standout pieces.
Outfit #1
This simple but beautifully tailored shirt dress evokes the '90s with its bold white and black check print, shoulder pads, deeply plunging neckline, and slanted flap pockets.

Outfit #2
This thigh-length jacket, mini-skirt, and cropped cardigan with matching black and white check print evoke memories of Cher's iconic outfit in the '90s film Clueless. By dropping the jacket's hem and raising that of the cardigan, Herrera has given this classic look a modern update.
Outfit #3
Here, an exquisite bright yellow structured hip-length jacket with hidden closures, short lapels and clean lines is balanced and given a more ethereal feel by being paired with a floaty, puffy gold tulle skirt and an enormous statement brooch of gold flowers.
Outfit #4
This easy-to-wear slim-fitting traditional single-breasted black pantsuit is elevated with a waist-cinching skinny black belt to echo the slim fit of the suit and another sprig of gold statement flowers.
Outfit #5
Finally, a button-up shirt and mini-skirt combination in a matching pastel lilac made for a striking day-to-day look. As if it were needed, more interest was added to the ensemble with statement buttons that were slightly offset on the skirt.
