New York Fashion Week 2019 has been in full swing this September. New York is the first of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks and took place from Friday, 6 September to Saturday, 14 September in Spring Studios. Let’s take a look at some of the runway and street style trends this year.
Red is in!
Red is bold and has made a comeback in a big way this Fall. Celebrities, models, and actresses like Emily Blunt, Ashley Graham, Zendaya, and Bella and Gigi Hadid have been spotting in the street and on the runway wearing beautiful red hues. Embellished red heels seem to be on-trend too. Would you rock out in red?
Animal print and neutrals are here to stay
Animal print has been fashionable for the last couple of seasons and it looks like it is here to stay. Once marginalised, this fabric has now become a fashionable and bold statement. Even Vogue editor Anna Wintour was seen this Fall rocking a little leopard with snakeskin ankle boots no less! Karlie Kloss, Leandra Medine, Michelle Mason, Sofia Richie, Coco Rocha, Kacey Musgraves, Madison Guest, and Nicki Minaj were all seen in various animal prints too. Some opted to pare their prints down with beige neutrals, others opted for black, and some just went full-on print. Have the recent trends added animal prints to your wardrobe or have you always been a die-hard fan?
Flowy dresses
You don’t have to ditch your floral and flowy dresses this fall either. You can layer leather jackets or tailored coats and blazers over the top and continue wearing those summer trends through to winter. Dresses of all patterns, shapes, and lengths are still hot this season. Belted, wrap, and structured dresses are preferable too.
Tailoring is still king
Thankfully for us, another trend that is here to stay is the tailored suit, for both men and women (of course). This Fall we have especially seen a resurgence of colourful suits, more specifically pink suits. Would you wear a bright pink suit to the office or your next event? We think it looks impeccably stylish! What do you think? Suits can be dressed down with white trainers (still a trend) or up with heels. We also see instances of loose, flowing tailoring as well as structured, fitted tailoring. High-waisted, double or single breasted, embellished with a bra, a blouse, or nothing at all–the trends are all here to stay.
