September marks the beginning of month-long fashion show extravaganzas for spring/summer 2025, starting in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally wrapping up in Paris at the start of October.
New York Fashion Week kicked off on the 6th of September and will finish on the 11th. It features a plethora of presentations from well-known designers and top luxury brands, including Ralph Lauren, Alaia, Off-White, Proenza Schouler, Tory Burch, Coach, Michael Kors, and Tommy Hilfiger, among others.
So far, the New York Spring/Summer 25 season seems to be favouring comfortable and functional designs that still provide a stylish aesthetic, a colour palette of brights along with more earthy tones, throwbacks to the bubble hem and other trends of the 1980s, and sporty designs that feature feminine detailing.
Ralph Lauren decided to kick off Fashion Week early with an unusual destination runway show. He presented all of his Spring/Summer 25 Ralph Lauren Collection, Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren lines in the Hamptons the night before the official start of the events. The Ralph Lauren Collection and Purple Label collections were influenced by the seaside location of the catwalk, featuring tailored suits, traditional blazers, and classic shirts, all in coastal blue, white, and sand hues. The Polo Ralph Lauren collection was more relaxed and sporty, alluding to the Hampton's history of horse riding with its jodhpur-like trousers and riding-style boots and belts.
