New York Fashion Week, September 2026: Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 202
The fashion world has once again descended on Manhattan.
With New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027 taking place from 10th–15th September, the city has been filled with designers, models, celebrities, photographers and fashion insiders showcasing their visions for the season ahead.
And among the collections catching our eye was one from a name synonymous with American minimalism, clean lines and modern tailoring — Calvin Klein.
For Spring/Summer 2027, Calvin Klein Collection creative director Veronica Leoni returned to the foundations of the house, stripping away unnecessary detail and concentrating on the essentials.
The result?
A collection that demonstrates just how powerful simplicity can be.

Calvin Klein: Less, But More
There is something rather interesting about simplicity.
Anyone can add something.
More fabric.
More decoration.
More colour.
More embellishment.
But removing everything that isn't necessary and still creating something compelling?
That's considerably harder.
For Spring/Summer 2027, Veronica Leoni embraced exactly that philosophy.
Calvin Klein's original approach to minimalism was built around the idea that good design, strong shape and considered silhouettes don't need excessive decoration.
Leoni took that philosophy and brought it firmly into the present day.
The collection focused on foundational wardrobe pieces — the coat, the shirt, tailoring, trousers, pencil skirts and the slip dress — allowing their cut, proportion and relationship with the body to do the talking.
And perhaps that's the most Calvin Klein idea of all.

American Minimalism
The phrase American minimalism appears throughout the conversation surrounding this collection.
But this wasn't minimalism in the sense of being boring.
Far from it.
The collection explored how a relatively small number of classic garments could be manipulated through proportion, fabric and styling to create something that felt distinctly modern.
Jackets became more streamlined.
Trousers followed longer, narrower lines.
Waists were defined.
Shirts became essential building blocks.
And familiar pieces were repeated and reinterpreted throughout the collection.
It is an approach that will be immediately familiar to anyone who appreciates tailoring.
Because when you remove the unnecessary details, the cut becomes everything.
Tailoring Without the Fuss
One of the standout elements for us was the tailoring.
Rather than relying on complicated construction or excessive decoration, Leoni allowed the silhouette to do the work.
A simple blazer in cotton.
Clean trousers.
A crisp white shirt.
A long coat.
A beautifully cut black suit.
The clothes appear deceptively simple.
But that is precisely the point.
When there is nowhere for unnecessary detail to hide, the cut has to be right.
The collection included compact cotton and nylon tailoring, with narrow, body-conscious silhouettes and defined proportions. One particularly striking look paired a minimalist black suit with a crisp white shirt.

The Power of the White Shirt
If there was one garment that perfectly captured the spirit of the collection, it was the humble white shirt.
Simple.
Crisp.
Versatile.
Timeless.
It appeared repeatedly throughout the show, sometimes layered beneath other pieces and sometimes allowed to stand alone.
And that is perhaps the beauty of a truly well-designed wardrobe.
The pieces don't have to compete with each other.
They work together.
A beautifully cut shirt can sit beneath a tailored jacket.
A tailored jacket can work with denim.
A pair of trousers can transition from day to evening.
And the same garment can take on an entirely different personality depending on how it is styled.
Good design gives you options.
Denim Gets the Calvin Klein Treatment
Of course, no Calvin Klein collection would feel complete without denim.
For Spring/Summer 2027, denim once again played an important role, appearing in washed-out tones and in a variety of familiar Calvin Klein forms.
High-waisted jeans.
Denim jackets.
Twisted denim pieces.
Bermuda shorts.
And denim styled alongside more formal tailoring.
It's that contrast between casual and tailored that makes the collection particularly interesting.
A pair of jeans doesn't necessarily have to mean casual dressing.
Put them beneath a beautifully cut jacket.
Add a crisp shirt.
Change the footwear.
Suddenly the entire look changes.
It's a reminder that great personal style isn't necessarily about owning hundreds of clothes.
It's about knowing how to put them together.
Georgia O'Keeffe & The Art of the Wardrobe
One of the more fascinating references within the collection was the wardrobe of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe.
Leoni was drawn to O'Keeffe's approach to clothing — a pared-back wardrobe built around well-made essentials and repetition.
And it makes perfect sense.
O'Keeffe famously developed a recognisable personal uniform.
Rather than constantly reinventing herself through fashion, she developed a visual identity.
That idea of repetition became an important part of Leoni's Spring/Summer 2027 collection.
The same garments and silhouettes were revisited throughout the show, demonstrating how different combinations can create completely different looks.
It's a rather good lesson for all of us.
**You don't always need something new.
Sometimes you just need to wear what you already own differently.**
A Colour Palette With Purpose
The foundations of the collection remained restrained, with black, white, grey, khaki and denim providing much of the palette.
But flashes of brighter colour appeared throughout, including yellow, royal blue, cherry and citron.
The result was a collection that felt controlled without becoming predictable.
Neutral tailoring provides the foundation.
Colour provides the personality.
And texture provides the interest.
It's a formula that works just as well outside the runway.
A beautifully tailored navy or charcoal suit can provide the foundation for an entire wardrobe, while shirts, ties, pocket squares and accessories can change the mood completely.
Stripping Everything Back
The setting itself reinforced the philosophy behind the collection.
Calvin Klein staged the show inside New York's Terminal Warehouse, an industrial space with exposed brick and very little decoration.
The space was accompanied by works from American minimalist artist Walter De Maria, creating an environment that echoed the stripped-back aesthetic of the clothing.
It was almost as though the surroundings were making the same argument as the clothes.
**Remove the unnecessary.
Focus on the essentials.
Let the structure speak for itself.**
And when you think about it, isn't that exactly what tailoring is supposed to do?
What Does Calvin Klein SS27 Mean for Tailoring?
For us, there is plenty to take away from this collection.
Perhaps the biggest lesson is proportion.
A jacket doesn't have to be oversized.
A trouser doesn't have to be skinny.
A shirt doesn't need elaborate detailing.
A suit doesn't need a dozen design features to make an impression.
Instead, the relationship between each element becomes important.
The shoulder.
The waist.
The sleeve.
The trouser break.
The rise.
The length of the jacket.
The balance between the garments.
These are the details that can make a relatively simple outfit look exceptional.
And this is where bespoke tailoring comes into its own.
Because rather than asking:
"What size am I?"
Bespoke asks:
"What proportions work for me?"
Our Favourite Part?
For us, it's the return to clean, uncomplicated tailoring.
The black suit and crisp white shirt.
The streamlined jackets.
The longer, more defined silhouettes.
The combination of denim with tailoring.
And the overall confidence to say that a garment doesn't need to be covered in details to make an impression.
Sometimes the most luxurious thing you can do is simply get the cut right.
Fashion Changes. Great Tailoring Doesn't.
Every season brings another collection.
Another colour.
Another silhouette.
Another trend.
But some things remain.
A beautifully cut jacket.
A perfectly proportioned trouser.
A crisp white shirt.
A great piece of cloth.
And, most importantly, clothing that makes the person wearing it feel like themselves.
That is perhaps the biggest lesson we can take from Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2027.
**Strip away the unnecessary.
Keep what matters.
Make it fit beautifully.**
Because when the foundations are right, you don't need much else.
