Nico & Sunni’s Elegant Wedding Style: A Bespoke Black & White Suit by A Hand Tailored Suit

A sophisticated wedding look created exclusively for Nico by A Hand Tailored Suit, Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

When it comes to wedding tailoring, every detail matters. From the choice of fabric and lapel style to the smallest finishing touches, a bespoke suit allows the groom to create an outfit that reflects his personality, complements the wedding setting and looks exceptional in photographs.

For groom Nico, the brief was distinctive and sophisticated: a striking white brocade jacquard jacket paired with rich black velvet detailing, a black VBC waistcoat and matching evening trousers, completed with a crisp bespoke white shirt.

The result was a timeless black-and-white formal look, individually designed and made by A Hand Tailored Suit in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

A Bespoke Wedding Suit Designed Around Nico

Nico visited the A Hand Tailored Suit showroom at 95 Spencer Street, Birmingham, B18 6DA, in the Jewellery Quarter for a personalized style consultation.

The consultation provided an opportunity to discuss the wedding, venue, styling and the overall look Nico wanted to achieve. With expert guidance, each element of the outfit was carefully selected before production.

The finished outfit consisted of:

  • Bespoke three-piece suit
  • Bespoke white formal shirt
  • Black velvet bow tie
  • Pocket square
  • Contrasting velvet detailing throughout the suit

Rather than choosing a standard off-the-rack wedding suit, Nico opted for a completely individual design where the fabrics, proportions, pockets, lining, buttons and finishing details could all be specified.

The Statement White Brocade Jacquard Jacket

The centerpiece of Nico's wedding outfit was his white brocade jacquard jacket.

The luxurious white fabric provides a distinctive texture and subtle pattern, creating a sophisticated formal appearance while offering something different from a traditional plain dinner jacket.

To add definition and contrast, the jacket features a 4-inch black velvet peaked lapel.

The combination of white brocade and black velvet creates a sharp monochrome aesthetic that works particularly well for an evening wedding and reception.

The jacket was designed with a single-breasted front, straight flapped front pockets finished with black velvet jetting, a breast pocket and double vents at the back.

Black velvet buttons complete the formal styling.

The contrast between the white brocade body and black velvet details gives the jacket a strong formal character while remaining elegant and refined.

The Black VBC Double-Breasted Waistcoat

Underneath the statement jacket, Nico's waistcoat introduces another layer of bespoke detailing.

Made from black VBC fabric, the waistcoat features a double-breasted 3x3 front with a distinctive 2-inch shawl lapel.

The horseshoe scoop styling creates a curved, elegant line across the front of the waistcoat, complementing the formal character of the jacket.

The waistcoat also features:

  • Double-breasted 3x3 front
  • 2-inch shawl lapel
  • Horseshoe scoop styling
  • Fabric back
  • Two pockets
  • Rear adjuster
  • Contrasting white brocade back detailing

The white brocade back adds an unexpected bespoke touch, allowing the waistcoat to work as a statement piece in its own right.

Bespoke Evening Trousers with Velvet Side Stripe

The trousers were made from VBC black fabric, selected to create a sophisticated foundation for the white and black jacket.

Designed as formal evening trousers, they feature a black velvet contrast side stripe, tying them directly into the velvet lapel and other black velvet details of the outfit.

The trousers were designed with:

  • Black VBC fabric
  • Cross front pockets
  • One right rear pocket
  • Belt loops and adjusters
  • No pleats
  • Plain hem
  • Standard fastening
  • Black velvet evening trouser stripe
  • Brace buttons

The clean, flat-front construction gives the trousers a streamlined silhouette, while the velvet stripe adds the unmistakable character of formal evening tailoring.

The Bespoke White Formal Shirt

The shirt was designed specifically to complement the three-piece suit.

Nico chose a white bespoke shirt with a semi cut-away collar, creating a clean and contemporary neckline that works particularly well with formal tailoring and a bow tie.

The front was designed with a balanced formal front, incorporating black dress studs for an elegant evening-wear finish.

The shirt also features double cuffs with a straight cuff style, completing the formal look.

Finishing the Look with Black Velvet Accessories

Nico's accessories were deliberately kept coordinated with the black velvet detailing throughout the suit.

A black velvet clip-on bow tie complements the velvet peaked lapel and trouser stripe, bringing the entire outfit together.

A pocket square was also included, adding the final finishing touch to the formal wedding ensemble.

The consistent use of black velvet across the lapel, buttons, pocket jetting, bow tie and trouser stripe creates a cohesive look from head to toe.

A Wedding at the The Great Hall at Kelham Hall)

The wedding reception was scheduled for 30 August, with the celebrations taking place at The Great Hall at Kelham Hall) home to the Kelham Hall, which is famously known for housing the second-largest concrete dome in England

For a venue with such a distinctive architectural presence, the groom's outfit needed to have enough character to stand out while retaining a sophisticated formal aesthetic.

The white brocade jacket provides that statement element, while the black velvet and VBC tailoring bring structure and elegance to the overall appearance.

The result is a wedding outfit designed not simply for the ceremony, but for the photographs, reception and celebrations that follow.

Bespoke Tailoring in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter

Nico's suit demonstrates what makes bespoke tailoring different.

Instead of selecting a predetermined design, the process allowed every important detail to be considered individually — from the white brocade jacquard fabric and 4-inch peaked lapel to the black VBC waistcoat, velvet trouser stripe, paisley lining and formal bespoke shirt.

At A Hand Tailored Suit, based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, clients can work with experienced tailors and designers to develop a wedding outfit around their individual requirements.

Whether the desired style is classic, contemporary, traditional or completely individual, bespoke tailoring gives the groom the opportunity to create something that is genuinely his own.

Creating a Groom's Look That Is Completely Individual

Nico's wedding suit combines several traditional elements of formal menswear with distinctive bespoke details.

The white brocade jacquard jacket makes an immediate statement. The black velvet peaked lapel adds definition. The double-breasted black waistcoat creates depth, while the matching VBC trousers and velvet stripe maintain the formal evening-wear theme.

The bespoke shirt and black velvet bow tie then complete the look.

Every component has been selected to work together as one coordinated outfit.

The finished result is a sophisticated black-and-white wedding ensemble, individually designed and tailored for Nico by A Hand Tailored Suit in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
