Paris Fashion Week 2024: The Givenchy Runway

Paris Fashion Week 2024, an event at the forefront of global fashion and the finale of the Fashion Week events took place between the 26th of February and the 5th of March in the Carrousel du Louvre. Highlights from the week included shows from fashion's most famous brands: Chanel, Givenchy, Christian Dior, Hermes, Balmain, and Chloe.

This Fashion Week's collections were intended for the autumn and winter of 2024. Although the designers stamped their own style onto the collections, there were a lot of stand-out trends, from the now ubiquitous sheer fabrics of many a past runway and award event to faux fur, denim, corsets, 80s-style oversized jackets and shoulder pads, sequins, knits, and a lot of black. Most designers mixed archival designs with futuristic silhouettes and materials, honouring their past while still innovating.

Givenchy's Autumn/Winter 24 ready-to-wear collection looked to its past and presented a runway of elegance and sophistication. Take a look at the full runway show below.

The collection drew inspiration from the work of Hubert de Givenchy himself and evoked the timeless refinement of Audrey Hepburn, one of his enduring muses. Power tailoring was on the menu, but with waisted silhouettes and more delicate proportions for the feminine frame. Tailoring was also embellished with jewel-like buttons, adding a flamboyance that didn't detract from the pieces' sophistication. The colour palette contained primarily neutral tones with the occasional pop of bright colour in the form of hot pink and orange. Of course, sheer fabric also appeared, evoking lightness and airiness. Let's take a look at some of the pieces.
