Paris Fashion Week, Day Four, 23rd June 2023: Dior Homme - A Hand Tailored Suit

Paris Fashion Week, Day Four, 23rd June 2023: Dior Homme

This year Paris Fashion Week Men's Spring/Summer 24 took place between the 20th and 25th June 2023. The runways occurred all over Paris in unique venues, such as museums and gardens. Day four featured the Dior Homme runway at the École Militaire. The collection was produced by British designer Kim Jones, who was celebrating his fifth anniversary at Dior. Although the clothes mainly focused on traditional tailoring, the actual runway staging was incredibly futuristic and unique. The models rose onto the stage through trap doors before beginning their usual struts. Take a look at the full runway show below.

The designs featured neutral tones, such as grey, brown, and beige, with classic shapes but with looser cuts or shorter hems. There were also periodic neon pops, leopard print, and strange hats. Let's take a closer look at some of the pieces.

Outfit #1

This look is a classically tailored suit in grey tweed with all of the usual suit anatomy - flap pockets, notch lapels, natural shoulders- made more modern by slightly raising the trousers' hem at the ankle and a more oversized fit. It is paired with an untucked white classic collar shirt with a blue dot pattern. Gold embellishments were added with a chain at the collar and a brooch on the left lapel, but the standout accessory is the odd black hat with its lace and flower adornments.

Outfit #2

More classic tailoring is seen in this beautiful casual beige summer suit with patch pockets and notch lapels. The cut is again oversized, and the trousers are wide-legged and slightly flared, as seen on many of the SS24 runways recently, but the hem was again cut just above the ankle, giving it a modern 70s-inspired feel. The suit was paired with a slightly cropped pink patterned sweater to show off the high waist of the trousers and add a pop of colour.

Outfit #3

This ensemble is again an example of traditional tailoring in a lovely summery off-white shade. However, it has been given the wow factor with a neon yellow shirt embellished with cabochon jewels that match the one on the suit's complementary cardigan that is worn unusually over the jacket to allow it to shine.

Outfit #4

This season, short suits have been seen all over the SS24 runways, and Dior Homme was no exception. This look featured wide-legged short shorts in grey tweed, a neon yellow long-sleeved polo-style shirt, and a fluffily textured cardigan in grey with black trim.

Outfit #5

Finally, the evening coat was revamped with a modern oversized cut, fun texture and bright colours. It was paired with a blue and white striped shirt with a pearl chain at the neck instead of a tie, one of the ubiquitous fancy hats embellished with flowers and feathers, and, oddly, a pair of leopard print sandals.
