Paris Fashion Week. Day One, 20th June 2023: Louis Vuitton

This year Paris Fashion Week Men's Spring/Summer 24 took place between the 20th and 25th June 2023. The runways occurred all over Paris in unique venues, such as museums and gardens. Day one ended with a spectacular show by Louis Vuitton at Paris' oldest bridge, Pont Neuf. The gorgeous sunset echoed the runway's yellow carpet and provided a beautiful backdrop for Louis Vuitton's collection of Parisian landmark printed block suits and outfits inspired by nature. Take a look at the entire show on June 20th 2023, below.

Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 24 collection was designed by Pharrell Williams and guided by Marc Jacobs and Pietro Beccari. According to Numero magazine, the theme was the sun as a symbol of opportunity, responsibility, and unity. This was seen across the collection with a warm-toned colour palette, graphic ray decorations, and shiny embellishments on clothes and accessories. The new logo LVERS was also used, combining Louis Vuitton's initials and Pharrell William's home state slogan, "Virginia is for lovers". Let's take a look at some of the standout pieces.

Outfit #1

In this classic single-breasted slim-fitting notch lapel, flap pocket suit Louis Vuitton's traditional Damier (checkerboard) design is fused with camouflage to create the new pattern Damoflage. This pattern appeared across many pieces, including denim, knitwear, and furs. This particular outfit was finished with a cream-coloured polo-style shirt, matching luggage, and black Mary Janes with white socks.

Short suits were seen across all of the menswear runways this season. Louis Vuitton put their spin on it using their signature Damier pattern, collarless moments, cropped jackets, and low-slung waists. Here the short suit is styled with a crystal and pearl-embellished beanie, a leather bowling bag, and incongruous snow boots.

The Damoflage pattern was again seen in this more relaxed, slouchy denim streetwear look. The jacket and trousers were oversized and baggy but beautifully tailored and paired with a matching beanie.

Outfit #4

This gorgeous maroon jacket and red trousers outfit certainly stood out among the greens and yellows of this collection. The jacket is cropped at the waist with an exciting pearl button and gold chain closure. The trousers are slim-fitting and feature the ubiquitous Damier print. The look was finished with gold, pearl, and crystal accessories that match the jacket closure and are also seen in outfits throughout the collection.

Outfit #5

Finally, a simple but elegant all-black button-down collar black shirt, slim-fitting black trousers, and black silk tie were paired with a classic evening coat in a black and white Damier pattern. The coat featured short lapels, an oversized collar, and a white squiggle embroidery on the left front panel that echoed the embroidery on the black silk tie, pulling the whole look together into a cohesive ensemble.
