September was a month-long fashion show extravaganza for spring/summer 2025. It started in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally onto Paris, where it concluded at the start of October.
Paris Fashion Week was celebrating its fiftieth birthday in 2024. It started on the 23rd of September and ended on the 1st of October 2024. It featured catwalks and presentations from famous brands and designers, such as Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Rabanne, Balmain, Chloe, Mugler, Rick Owens, Schiaparelli, Loewe, Issey Miyake, Hermes, and many more.
There have been some key trends across the runways in New York, London, and Milan that have continued in Paris. Past decades have enormously influenced designers, including the 20s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. Sheer fabrics also seem to be still going strong after many seasons. Other trends have included plaid, fringe, florals and earthy hues, sportswear, and mirrored pieces.
Creative director Olivier Rousteing presented Balmain's Spring/Summer 25 collection. Take a look at the whole runway show below.
For Spring/Summer 25, Rousteing blended fashion with beauty. Statement dresses were intricately constructed with thousands of beads to create face designs, and heads formed skirts and dresses. The silhouettes were architectural, with enormous pointy power shoulders, cinched waists, and exaggerated hips that harked back both to Monsieur Balmain's 1950s "Jolie Madame" silhouette as well as the 1980s power dressing style. Accessories included perfume bottles and eyeshadow palettes that were reworked as clutch bags, and lipsticks and nail polish bottles were used as heels for shoes. Take a closer look at some of the pieces from the collection below.
