September marked the beginning of month-long fashion show extravaganzas for spring/summer 2025. It started in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally onto Paris, where it will conclude at the start of October.
Paris Fashion Week is celebrating its fiftieth birthday in 2024. It started on the 23rd of September and will end on the 1st of October 2024. It will feature catwalks and presentations from famous brands and designers, such as Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Rabanne, Balmain, Chloe, Mugler, Rick Owens, Schiaparelli, Loewe, Issey Miyake, Hermes, and many more.
Although Paris Fashion Week has only just started, there have been some key trends across the runways in New York, London, and Milan that are bound to continue. So far, past decades have enormously influenced designers, including the 20s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. Sheer fabrics also seem to be still going strong after many seasons. Other trends have included plaid, fringe, florals and earthy hues, sportswear, and mirrored pieces. We will see more of the style choices of Parisian designers in the coming days.
Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri presented the Spring/Summer 25 Christian Dior collection in a temporary tent in the Rodin Museum garden. Take a look at the full runway show below.
Saag Napoli, an artist and archer, opened the show with an archery display that set the tone for the collection. Channelling strong and powerful women, including Diana, the goddess of hunting, and Wonder Woman, and the recent Paris Olympics, Grazia Chiuri presented a monochromatic collection ( with the odd pop of sparkle, nude, white, and red) of sporty athleisure wear, relaxed tailoring, and floaty evening dresses. The shoes included knee-high lace-up trainers that were evocative of gladiator sandals. According to Grazia Chiuri, the collection's goal was to rework some of the house classics to make more easy-to-wear pieces that allow better freedom of movement.
