Paris Fashion Week, September 2024: Saint Laurent

September marked the beginning of month-long fashion show extravaganzas for spring/summer 2025. It started in New York before moving to London and Milan and finally onto Paris, where it will conclude at the start of October.

Paris Fashion Week is celebrating its fiftieth birthday in 2024. It started on the 23rd of September and will end on the 1st of October 2024. It will feature catwalks and presentations from famous brands and designers, such as Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Rabanne, Balmain, Chloe, Mugler, Rick Owens, Schiaparelli, Loewe, Issey Miyake, Hermes, and many more.

Although Paris Fashion Week has only just started, there have been some key trends across the runways in New York, London, and Milan that are bound to continue. So far, past decades have enormously influenced designers, including the 20s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. Sheer fabrics also seem to be still going strong after many seasons. Other trends have included plaid, fringe, florals and earthy hues, sportswear, and mirrored pieces. We will see more of the style choices of Parisian designers in the coming days.

Creative director Anthony Vaccarello presented the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 25 collection at the house's Left Bank headquarters on Rue de Bellechasse. Take a look at the full runway show below.

The Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 25 collection blended 80s power dressing with more modern touches. Double-breasted jackets with huge shoulder pads and wide-legged trousers were beautifully tailored in plums, beiges, and blacks and paired with white or striped shirts and striped or polka-dotted ties. Daring accessories, including oversized sunglasses and jewel-encrusted shoes, completed the outfits. The suits were followed by eveningwear in bright colours, such as jewel-toned blues, gold, emerald green, and hot pink. The eveningwear included sheer blouses, mini-skirts, silk dresses, and shoulder-padded coats, all enhanced with brocade, ruffles, underskirts and lace. Take a closer look at some of the pieces from the collection below.
