Paris Haute Couture Week, January 2026: Dior

Paris Haute Couture week is an exclusive fashion event held in Paris twice a year. It showcases custom-made, hand-crafted clothes from an elite group of fashion houses. Couture pieces often require hundreds of hours of labour. This year, for the January 2026 season, Haute Couture Week was held from January 26 to 29. Jonathan Anderson presented his first collection for Dior, and Matthieu debuted his for Chanel. It also featured the first Armani Privé show since the death of Giorgio Armani and the first couture collection for Valentino since the passing of Valentino Garavani.

The theme of the Spring/Summer 2026 collection was "Nature in Motion" and a Wunderkammer or cabinet of wonders. It explored sculptural forms and materiality, with some pieces drawing inspiration from the work of ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo. Her work was particularly represented by balloon-hem dresses made of silk and wire. Galliano, a past creative director of Dior, inspired bias-cut gowns, his signature silhouette, and Raf Simons, another creative director in the early 2010s, was represented by sculptural reinterpretations of the iconic Dior Bar Jacket. Jonathan Anderson also contributed his own unique designs inspired by nature. Apart from the sculptural nature of the garments, texture was a large focus, including fringing, florals, and chiffon. The colour palette had a base of black, white, and ecru, which allowed the pink, green, and metallic-toned accents to shine. Let's take a closer look at some of the pieces from the collection.
