Paris Haute Couture Week, July 2025: Viktor & Rolf
Share
Paris Haute Couture Week takes place twice a year, in January and July, where the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections are showcased, respectively. Haute Couture Week represents the height of fashion craftsmanship, where dresses can take hundreds of hours to create and must be made to measure in order to qualify as couture. This year, Haute Couture Week took place from July 7 to 10, featuring collections from fashion powerhouses such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Armani Privé, and Maison Margiela.
Dutch designers Viktor and Rolf presented their Autumn/Winter 2025 Haute Couture collection on July 9. It was titled "Angry Birds" due, presumably, to the 11,500 handcrafted fabric feathers that were featured. Watch the full runway show below.
The collection consisted of thirty looks presented in pairs. Each pair featured the garment stuffed and adorned with handcrafted fabric feathers, while the other had no stuffing or feathers, highlighting the contrast between voluminous silhouettes and more simplified ones. The effect was dramatic, with the same material and cut of the garment looking completely different. With the pieces that had a large volume, there was room for more adornments, and the fabric and sequins caught the light more distinctively than the 'deflated' versions. These pieces highlighted how that particular fabric draped and moved. Take a closer look at some of the pairs of outfits below.
