With the release of the festive movie Red One on November 6th, the all-star cast embarked on a press tour to promote the action-packed extravaganza. Take a look at the film's trailer below before we dive into a look at the movie's plot, its stars, and their sartorial style in their Berlin and London appearances.
Plot
Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) plays Callum Drift, who has to team up with Chris Evan's (Captain America) character Jack O'Malley, a bounty hunter, to find and rescue a kidnapped Santa Claus, played by Whiplash Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons. The star-studded cast is rounded off by Lucy Liu (Kill Bill: Volume 1) as Zoe Harlow, director of the Mythological Oversight and Restoration Authority, Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as the winter witch Gryla, Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) as Krampus, and Bonnie Hunt (Rain Man, Jumanji) as Mrs Claus.
The cast appeared at the film's premiere in Berlin on November 3rd, followed by a photo call and media moment and a fan screening at London's VUE Westfield White City on November 6th. Let's take a look at some of the cast's style at those events.
Dwayne Johnson
For the Berlin Premiere, Dwayne looked dapper in a wintery colour palette of red and burgundy. He donned a cosy red turtle neck, black tailored loose-fitting trousers, and a gorgeous burgundy wool dress coat with wide lapels, natural shoulders, and flap pockets.
Dwayne chose a more relaxed look at the London photocall with the same pop of Christmassy red. He wore a long-sleeved red quarter-zip jumper and slim-fitting black trousers. Dwayne accessorised the look with a delicate gold necklace and red ombre-tinted glasses.
At the London fan screening, Dwayne went all out in a burnt orange velvet double-breasted tuxedo jacket with contrasting black satin shawl lapels and buttons that matched his tailored black trousers. He made the look a little more casual by opting for no tie with his classic white dress shirt.
Chris Evans
In Berlin, Chris wore a seasonal browny-green velvet single-breasted slim-fitting suit with slim, notch lapels and flap pockets. The trousers had fun turn-ups at the bottom. He paired the suit with a rich sapphire blue turtle neck.
Chris went fully informal at the London photocall in a black crew neck t-shirt, black cargo trousers, an indigo-wash denim jacket, and brown suede boots.
At the London fan screening, Chris still looked relaxed but more put together in black, straight-legged tailored trousers, a chocolate brown shirt, and a brown checked tweed jacket.
Lucy Liu
Lucy Liu looked absolutely stunning at the Berlin premiere. She donned a full-length black gown with a long, elegant train. The halterneck bodice was nude and decorated with sparkles, while the show-stopping piece was an enormous flower made of black ribbon with a bedazzled centre that adorned the top.
Lucy chose a Christmassy vivid red jumpsuit at the London photocall with long cuffed sleeves, wide-legged trousers, and a pussybow collar.
For the fan screening in London, Lucy put a spin on a traditional black tuxedo. Rather than trousers, she wore tailored short shorts with a satin waistband that complemented the oversized satin lapels of her tuxedo jacket. She finished the outfit with sheer black tights and a black satin net-covered corset top.
J.K. Simmons
J.K Simmons chose a festive red velvet jacket with satin peak lapels at the Berlin premiere. He paired it with a black shirt and black tailored slim-fitting trousers. He gave the formal look a casual twist with a pair of bright red trainers.
Simmons donned the same red trainers at the London photocall, this time pairing them with black chinos, a black satin bomber jacket, and a purple shirt.
Simmons chose a beautiful grey-on-grey checked single-breasted slim-fitting suit with incredibly slim lapels and flap pockets at the London fan screening. He combined it with the purple shirt from the earlier photocall and rounded off the outfit with a purple pocket square to complement his shirt.
Kiernan Shipka
At the Berlin premiere, Kiernan leaned into her winter witch character with a snowy white high-low gown. The sheer long-sleeved bodice was dusted with white sparkles and had a high bedazzled collar. The high-low skirt was made up of cascading ruffles, and she completed the look with white satin high heels and a pop of red in her lipstick.
Kiernan chose white again at the London photocall. She wore a sleeveless blazer dress with short, wide lapels and a tulip-shaped skirt. She paired it with black short shorts, sheer black tights, and patent pointed-toe platform heels.
Kiernan's outfit took a complete change of direction at the London fan screening. She donned a schoolgirl-esque look of a black blazer with red stripes, an over-the-knee black box pleated skirt, a white shirt, and a black diagonally striped tie that was pulled down and messy. She completed the outfit with black patent Mary Janes.
