Shaken, Not Stirred: Reiss & Jaysa’s Bespoke 007 Wedding Journey
There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter on a crisp winter morning. On January 25th at 11:30 AM, we opened our doors at 95 Spencer Street to welcome groom-to-be Reiss and his bride Jaysa for their very first bespoke consultation with A Hand Tailored Suit.
The brief? Absolute cinematic elegance.
With two incredible wedding functions on the horizon across two continents, Reiss needed a look that didn't just fit the room—it needed to command it. The inspiration was clear from the start: Classic James Bond.
Destination 1: The Las Vegas Strip (May 1st)
When you are jetting off over the May Bank Holiday weekend (flying out on May 4th) for an unforgettable first function in Las Vegas, your evening wear has to be show-stopping. A high-stakes destination requires a high-performance fabric, which led us straight to the world-renowned Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) mills.
Destination 2: The UK Homecoming (May 31st)
A true 007 has to look just as sharp back on home soil. Reiss’s bespoke tuxedo was engineered to travel effortlessly, ready to handle the bright lights of Nevada and the sophisticated backdrop of their UK celebration exactly 30 days later.

The Jacket

The Cloth: A luxurious, high-twist Black Mohair blend by VBC. Mohair is the ultimate choice for destination weddings—it naturally resists creasing, breathes beautifully in warmer climates, and holds a deep, matte-black tone under event lighting.

The Cut: A strong single-button front (
SB1) featuring bold 3.5-inch peaked lapels to broaden the chest and create that iconic, powerful silhouette. -
Secret Agent Details: We lined the main interior with a striking Burgundy Paisley silk, framed beautifully with clean ivory piping. For a playful touch of personality, we added a "Flash Cuff" and inner pockets lined with black paisley, alongside a contrasting silver-themed accent button (
BA20202) at the cuff.
The Evening Trousers

The Details: Tailored from matching VBC black mohair, styled with flat fronts, comfortable side adjusters, and internal brace buttons.

The Satin Stripe: No classic tuxedo is complete without the traditional black satin stripe running down the outer leg, perfectly matching the jetting on the jacket's slanted front pockets.
The Traditional Dress Shirt
To complete the look, we crafted a crisp white formal shirt featuring:

A elegant semi-cutaway collar designed to cradle a real, self-tied bow tie made from the exact same VBC jacket fabric.

A clean, traditional plain bib front designed specifically to house striking silver and black dress studs.

Double cuffs (French cuffs) cut straight—ready for a pair of ace-up-the-sleeve playing card cufflinks.
