The BAFTA Awards 2025: Best Dressed Men

The BAFTA Awards 2025: Best Dressed Men

The 78th BAFTA Film Awards, the British equivalent to the Oscars, took place last night, 16th February 2025, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Musical crime film Emilia Perez had fifteen nominations, followed by Conclave with fourteen and The Brutalist with nine. Conclave won Best Film and Outstanding British Film, The Brutalist scooped Best Director (Brady Corbet) and Best Leading Actor (Adrien Brody), and Emilia Perez took the gong for Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldana). The nominees, winners, and guests swarmed the red carpet in their best outfits. Recently, the men at award ceremonies have been more adventurous with their fashion choices. At the BAFTAs, however, it was firmly back to tuxedos and black suits for the most part. Let's look at some of the men's stand-out ensembles among the sea of black, whether for cut, pattern, texture or colour choice.

David Tennant

The co-host for the evening, David Tennant, is well known for his bold fashion choices, and he didn't disappoint last night. Tennant opted for a long-line jacket with satin flap pockets and red and green beaded cuffs and lapels that flowed down into the body of the coat. The beading was continued on his shirt's collar and front panel.

Jeff Goldblum

Wicked star Jeff Goldblum performed "As Time Goes By" at the In Memoriam ceremony segment. Also known for his daring fashion choices, Goldblum donned a black tailcoat paired with a peacock feather embellished waistcoat and a white bow tie.

Joe Alwyn

Joe Alwyn starred in The Brutalist. He walked the red carpet in a deep aubergine-coloured double-breasted suit with a matching coloured shirt and tie. He added a touch of colour contrast with a vivid red poppy brooch on a long gold stem pinned to his left lapel.

Colman Domingo

Colman Domingo, who was nominated for Best Actor for Sing Sing, never wears an understated outfit. Last night, he chose an over-the-top silk Versace shirt that opened almost to his navel. The shirt's pattern matched the lining of his ankle-length black leather jacket. He rounded off the look with a necklace, black leather studded driving gloves, and pointed patent leather shoes.

Timothee Chalamet

Nominated for Best Actor in The Brutalist, Timothee Chalamet walked the red carpet in a black suit. However, the cropped cut of the double-breasted jacket and the substitution of a T-shirt for a traditional dress shirt made the look much more dynamic. He completed the outfit with a diamond-encrusted choker-styler necklace.
