This year's British Academy Television Awards were held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on May 12, 2024. They were hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. Winners included Timothy Spall in The Sixth Commandment, Sarah Lancashire in Happy Valley, Matthew Macfadyen in Succession, Jasmin Jobson in Top Boy, Joe Lycett in Late Night Lycett, and Mawaan Rizwan in Juice, among others. Of course, the award's nominees and notable industry names flooded the ceremony's red carpet. Let's take a look at some of the women's outfits.
Eleanor Tomlinson
In a semi-sheer black tulle gown by Marchesa, Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson looked stunning on the red carpet. The bodice was corseted, and the neckline and hem featured voluminous ruffles. She wore her striking red hair in sleek side-parted waves and donned subtle jewellery.
Elizabeth Debicki
Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, who was nominated for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown, wore a black custom Armani Privé jumpsuit. It was made of a shimmering fabric and had over exaggeratedly wide legs, a corseted bodice, and crystals along the bra straps and cups. She accessorised with a swooping bird pendant.
Helena Bonham Carter
Helena Bonham Carter was nominated for Best Actress for the mini-series Nolly. She arrived on the red carpet in an unusually toned-down look for the star, who is known for her avant-garde dressing. Helena chose a black and floral corseted Vivienne Westwood gown with a train, beautiful gathering, and draping on the torso.
Jasmine Jobson
British actress Jasmin Jobson won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Netflix drama Top Boy. She strutted the carpet in a white full-length dress by Louis Vuitton. The deeply plunging bodice was embroidered with stripes in sparkling silver thread, and the floaty, ethereal skirt had the same embellishment in more widely spaced stripes. She kept the rest of her look simple with understated earrings and loose, wavy hair.
Lashana Lynch
2022's BAFTA Rising Star, Lashana Lynch, arrived at the ceremony in a 16Arlington Vezile pleated dress with a distinctly 18th-century feel, from its square-cut stay-shaped bodice to its under-gown-like flat skirt and pannier-effect hip-widening pleats at the dropped waist. She finished the look with black pointed-toe slingback heels and a bold red lip.
