The BAFTAs 2024 Style Focus: Women - A Hand Tailored Suit

The BAFTAs 2024 Style Focus: Women

The 77th British Academy Film Arts Awards (BAFTAs) were held on the 18th of February, 2024, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The BAFTAs honour the best national and international films of the previous year, with Oppenheimer coming out on top with the most awards. Cillian Murphy was celebrated as Best Actor for Oppenheimer, Emma Stone as Best Actress for Poor Things, and Oppenheimer won Best Film.

Of course, here at A Hand Tailored Suit, an awards event is a chance for us to eye up the best (and worst!) dressed on the red carpet. This year, 80s style was in full force among the female attendees, along with the ever-present sheer outfits and plenty of glitz. Let's take a look at some of the looks dished up by the female arrivals.

Rosamund Pike

Saltburn's Best Supporting Actress nominee Rosamund Pike continued her red carpet stunning outfit streak in a sky-blue Gucci prom-style ballerina-length dress that accentuated her tiny waist and toned arms. She paired it with nude pink chunky platform sandals that felt slightly clunky compared with the rest of the outfit, but she still looked amazing.

Claire Foy

Also nominated for Best Supporting Actress, but in All of Us Strangers, Claire Foy donned an Armani nude spaghetti strap slip dress with a lace over-dress, a beaded fringe on the neckline, and beautifully appliqued flowers. She wore her dark hair in a long bob and opted for a bold red lip to contrast with the rest of her more neutral look.

Bryce Dallas Howard

American actress and director Bryce Dallas Howard went full glam in a silver sequinned gown with long sleeves, 80s-style bold shoulder pads, waist cut-outs, ruching, and a decorative oversized rose (a theme of many other red carpets this season). She finished the look with sky-high black velvet heels for colour and texture contrast.

Phoebe Dynevor

Bridgerton star and Rising Star Award nominee Phoebe Dynevor kept it simple in a custom Louis Vuitton white silk halterneck dress with a short and elegant train. She added interest with a diamond cuff and earrings and slicked her hair back.
