The Best Dressed Guests at Donald Trump's Inauguration
Share
Monday, January 20th, marked the swearing-in of Donald Trump and JD Vance as the 47th president and vice president of the United States. The guest list included Trump's family, present and former political figures, such as Joe and Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, Bill and Hilary Clinton, and Barack Obama, Trump-supporting tech titans including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg and country singer Carrie Underwood who performed 'America the Beautiful' at the ceremony. Although the day was supposed to mark the start of a new political term and its promises for the next four years, many people's eyes were glued to the attendee's outfits instead. Let's take a look at some of the guest's inauguration ensembles.
Ivanka Trump
Ivanka Trump donned an emerald green pencil skirt suit with a matching fascinator. The jacket's waist was tightly cinched with a skinny black belt, and the asymmetrical waterfall lapel cascaded below the hemline.
At the Inaugural ball, she changed into a white strapless dress with a 1950s silhouette. It was decorated with delicately embroidered black flowers that she matched to her black satin opera gloves. She finished the look with a diamond necklace and diamond star stud earrings.
Melania Trump
The First Lady, Melania Trump, chose a shin-length navy double-breasted wool coat and a dramatic wide-brimmed hat with a white ribbon. She kept out the January chill with black leather gloves and rounded off the outfit with her signature stiletto heels.
Like Ivanka, Melania chose white with black detailing for the ball later that day. The floor-length strapless white gown had zigzagging black trim that matched her black choker, which was decorated with a diamond brooch.
Lauren Sanchez
Jeff Bezos' fiancee, Lauren Sanchez, caught some flak for her "inappropriate" white lace lingerie top choice. Still, we thought her beautifully tailored white pantsuit made up for any faux pas.
Priscilla Chan
Priscilla Chen, wife of Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg, attended the inauguration in a baby blue twinset and pearls. It might sound slightly frumpy, but the beautiful colour, retro Jackie Kennedy-inspired silhouette, and gorgeous gold buttons made it trendy but classy.
Barack Obama
Former President Obama kept it classic in a single-breasted, slim-fitting, navy suit with natural shoulders, notch lapels, and flap pockets. He paired it with a traditional white shirt and added a touch of personality with a diagonally striped blue and white tie.
Dr Jill Biden
Former First Lady Jill Biden looked elegant but warm in a vibrant indigo wool belted wrap coat and matching coloured heels.
Usha Vance
Vice President JD Vance's wife, Usha, also dressed for the cold in a long baby pink coat and complementary dusty pink suede boots. The coat featured a built-in scarf and a slim belt.
Hillary Clinton
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton donned a structured navy power suit decorated with a sparkly (and suggestive?!) gold and blue Peace on Earth brooch on her left lapel.
Lara Trump
Lara Trump also wore navy in the form of a long, textured coat with a fringed hem and large silver buttons. She paired it with black patent pointed-toe stilettos.
Tiffany Trump
Tiffany Trump looked cosy but elegant in a velvet navy coat-dress trimmed with satin along the hems, lapels, cuffs, pockets, and covering the buttons. The matching velvet belt pulled her waist into an hourglass shape.
Carrie Underwood
Country singer Carrie Underwood performed 'America the Beautiful' in a light grey high-necked sleeveless column dress with a ruched bodice. She embellished the simple dress with opulent dangling diamond earrings and a matching diamond bracelet.
