The 2024 Brit Awards took place on Saturday, March 3rd, at London's O2 Arena and were presented by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama, and Roman Kemp. British singer, songwriter, and producer Raye swept the board, winning the awards for British Album of the Year, British Artist of the Year, New Artist, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and R&B Act. Other winners included Dua Lipa for Pop Act, Miley Cyrus for International Song (Flowers), and Calvin Harris for Dance Act. Pop legend Kylie took home the Global Icon Award.
Here at A Hand Tailored Suit, we were most interested in what the celebrity attendees wore, of course! As seen on the recent Fashion Week runways, the women on the red carpet opted for a primarily black colour palette this year with a few sheer pieces and a sprinkling of sequins. There was the odd pop of colour and plenty of corsetry. Let's take a look at some of the celebrities' outfits.
Dua Lipa
"Levitating" singer Dua Lipa looked gorgeous in a skin-tight black Versace gown with a mermaid hem and deep v-neckline. Her long red hair was loose, and she accessorised with a chain choker and chunky silver bracelet to emphasise her edgy look.
Raye
The evening's big winner, Raye, chose a classic black off-the-shoulder gown by Fendi Couture embellished with black beads—the beautiful gown pooled at her feet. She wore her hair in a waved bob and adorned the look with Anayah and Smiling Rocks jewellery.
Maya Jama
One of the night's presenters, Maya Jama, also chose black. She combined a few of the current trends in the Harris Reed gown, including a sheer corset with visible boning and a figure-hugging velvet skirt with an enormously pouffy bell-shaped hem.
Ellie Goulding
Songstress Ellie Goulding stepped away from the black in a bronzed silk Alberta Ferretti dress with a cut-out midriff. She embellished the outfit with various blingy pieces of jewellery from Messika, including an arm cuff and oversized dangling earrings. She matched the jewellery to her sky-high silver platforms.
Charli XCX
Singer Charli XCX also eschewed the black trend in a custom Marni gown by Francesco Risso. The standout piece of the look was the translucent resin breastplate that had been laid onto a base of blue and pink silk, chiffon, and lace. This base continued into a long and draping patchwork skirt with a train in pastel yellows, pinks, blues, and greens.
