The British Fashion Awards took place at The Royal Albert Hall on the 5th of December in collaboration with Diet Coke. It is an annual ceremony that celebrates the fashion industry. A fundraiser for the British Fashion Council Foundation, it focuses on celebrating excellence in fashion and supporting future talent. It has been called "London's answer to New York's Met Gala" and "The Oscars of Fashion". The celebrities were out in force, showing off their style. Here are a few women's looks that caught our eye.
Jodie Turner-Smith
Presenting the awards this year, British actress and model Jodie Turner-Smith stunned the red carpet in an elaborate Gucci ensemble before making five costume changes. Her red carpet look was a floor-length neon green crepe gown with a deep v-neckline and a ruffled train. On top of the dress was a sheer cover-up in the same material with long, ruffled bell sleeves. The sheath's contrasting high neckline was decorated with silver embroidery and emerald green stones reflected in her pendant earrings.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh, a British actress known for starring in the Marvel film Black Widow, matched the red carpet in her Valentino red gown. Floor-length hems and large trains seemed to be in vogue with attendees, and this gown featured both. The full ballgown style skirt was balanced with a close-fitting backless bodice featuring thin straps wrapped around and under her arms to leave her back completely exposed. Florence completed the look with slicked-back hair and a matching red lip.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
English model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley continued the train trend, this time in a more edgy style. Wearing Valentino like Florence, Rosie's elegant outfit had a more modern feel with a close-fitting black high-necked long-sleeved leather top paired with a straight matt-black floor-length skirt that revealed a dragging train when she walked. Rosie accessorised with a black leather Valentino clutch, pointed black shoes, and chunky black hoop earrings.
Naomi Campbell
Iconic British supermodel Naomi Campbell sparkled as she arrived for the ceremony in another Valentino dress. The asymmetrical floor-length silver gown was ruched across the bodice for added interest and texture to the monochromatic outfit. A matching silver cape draped down her back and ended in another floor-dragging train. Naomi ornamented the look with silver jewellery, and her long black hair was left long and loose, emulating the flow of the dress.
Rita Ora
Rita Ora certainly drew attention with her Nensi Dojaka design. The British singer-songwriter must've felt chilly in the December temperatures as she strolled the carpet in an ankle-length sheer red mesh dress with a red bra top featuring metallic hearts attaching the two elements. A tiny red thong covered her lower half. The futuristic feel of the dress was echoed in the alienesque eye, brow and cheek makeup.
